Well i have had a sony Md walkman for about 3 years now but the FF button dosent work anymore and the closing clip is broken.

I am planning on purchasing a new hard-drive/micro drive based media player in 1 month and i wanted to hear some suggestions on what i should get. I had read reviews on the ipod, iriver, and zen players but i would rather hear opinions from those who have actually purchased and used these players before i make my final descision.

Here are my requirements:
- max amount to spend is $250 Not a single penny more.
- No less than 20GB of memory
- Backlit LCD screen (I use it alot in all conditions)
- AM/FM tuner is a plus
- Decent battery life (I dont wanna be recharging this thing every day)

Thanks in advance for your help people :)

Thanks, Damien

I'd suggest getting an iRiver.
Cheaper than an iPod, but you'd have to do some searching to get one below $250. It shouldn't be hard though.

As for battery life. Most mp3 players usually need to be recharged every day. But it's not a big deal for me. I take mine to school, come home around 5 pm and then take 10 secs out to charge it via USB cord, then it's all ready to go in the morning when I'm off to school again. Not a hassle at all. :D
It's got FM tuner as well, and it can hold and display pictures (color screen muahahaha)

Dont be so quick to state before looking "Kid Nyce", Jerry Seinfeld is wrong. As for all you other tranceaddicts, thanks alot for your help. Thanks Hedron for telling me about the Rio Karma 2. Its really nice but it lacks a recording feature, which i really need. However im gonna keep looking around for more.

Thanks, Damien

try the sony hd3...

cant go to the site to look at cost, but it's good. prob more than you want to spend :P...
it's got a big hard drive, 30 hour battery life, a color screen and some other junk.

warning- reason i cant go to site is that it always crashes firefox.

+1

Sony HD3 is practically the size of a credit card and thinner than the ipod, NO ATRAC requirement, 6 band equalizer (much better sound than the ing ipod) and YES, 30 hours of battery life. it trounces the ipod to .

however, it doesnt have a color lcd screen, its just blue or grey or some.
