Hi, I have narrowed down my monitor selection to Event SP8's, Mackie HR824's or Genelec 1030's.
Are the event SP8's as good as Genelec's?
Are their any others I should be thinking about?
Which are the best? |

havent heard the SP8s, but I have heard both the Mackie's and Genelec's.... both are excellent
A B them and decide which is better for you, or just go with the cheaper one |

in order from best to not as best...
Genelec (the king of the 3)
Mackie (the really great quality middle-high end guy)
SP8 (the not as expensive but still really high end guy) |

Yes, you can't go wrong with any of these picks....the GENELECs are supposedly the best speakers of the bunch, but as far as value for your money I'd take the Events.
Also, there was a big write up on active monitors in last months issue of Electronic Musician...I think the Event 8XL got a great nod! So did the Alesis ProLinear 720's. This maybe an even better price range for you (around $699 USD / pair). Check it out! |

keep in mind that the mackies are a level up in size from the genelecs (the hr624 would be equivalent to the genelec 1030s).
I have a pair of genelec 1030a monitors, and i love them, but you should definitely take a cd with a couple of your songs and a couple of well produced songs (like above&beyond productions) to the store and test the monitors.- |
