I just picked up a pair of 1200 M3Ds off ebay from a guy who said he's used them less than <50 hrs total use. The tables have been sitting in his basement for about 2 years though.
Is it possible that with such little use, the pitch can be off? For example, to get the +3 dots to stay still, i have to put it up to +4 and +6 i have to put at almost +8?? Should this be cause of concern?
Should i just flip it over and recalibrate so +3 is actually a +3 on the fader?

it's probably still at what it was out of the factory. before any adjustment on my decks my +6 was at like "7"
what you should check for is two zero points. |

Thats so strange..
with 1200s being 1200s, you'd think they would make sure that the platter spins according to the slider before they ship it out, dont you think?
The zero point is actually right at zero, but i just use the pitch lock button anyway to be sure, but i stared at thhe dots when the slider was at 0 for a good few minutes and didn't move an inch!:)
Is there a quick way to do this? I've googled for some instructions, but it seems like you have to twist it a little, then put the platter back on and check and it seems like the whole process takes forever (and a lot of platter removals) before you can get the pitch to match..? |

Its not a big deal. The pitch faders on all technics are off like that. You can recalibrate it but its really more trouble than its worth. |
