does he name all of his tracks as foods? |
FROM www.Rhythmism.com
We’ve noticed an amusing approach to your track names. Can you divulge any studio secrets? Where do these names originate from? (i.e. Bubblebath, Beat'n Potatoes, Purina, Fluffer Nutter, Oyster Crackers, When Pigs Fly]…)
-Don't tell anyone, but I try not to take myself too seriously. I think a lot of the music I'm involved with is primarily imaginative. I work mostly within an instrumental spectrum so a track title may just be the spark plug for somebody to enter a train of thought while listening to a tune, or it may simply just serve as a silly name tag. Either way I think there's heaps of comedy in music itself and it's fun to give a piece of music a name, like it's some sort of bastard child.
From another interview - And what's with naming all your records after food and drink?
Man, I really don't know. I think it's probably an eating disorder or something. Dance music and food just seem so analogous to me. Maybe it's because music is too yummy! |

Not too bring an old thread back to life or anything, but man oh man, I love Steve Porter...
First time I saw him was last weekend opening for Sasha. His productions had long been staples in my sets, in fact he is without a doubt my favorite producer, but believe it or not I had never heard how he sounded live until I hit up Soundbar, and I was blown out of the water, I've never heard anyone tear it up like Steve Porter...
I think his production and dj'ing compliment each other exceptionally well, something I think few DJ/Producers can really pull off well. His style is totally his own, and honestly, Porter is really the only DJ I've ever listened to and said "This is EXACTLY how I wish my sets sounded..."
Not to say that I think any DJ should really be trying to "rip off" another's style, but if I were going to, it'd be Porter :D
Thanks for a great show Steve... hope you make it back to the Midwest soon!
Peace, Cheers,

I really want to know that track that he's been playing with the saxaphone in it, its in massive! anyone know what im talkin about? |

Dude, I'm pretty sure he dropped that on Friday as well... no idea on the ID though...
And, as posted in my report in the local forums, in Chicago:
Porter > Sasha (IMHO)
Just the way it was... |

Check out his mix of Andrea Britton - Am I On Your Mind. Its fan-ing-tastic.
He is a hell of a nice guy, I've chilled with him and Eli Wilkie (who comprise the Agent 001) and they are so ing cool. Eli even came to one of my gigs and asked me to ID a tune! Both of them have huge things ahead of them. |
