sidechaining in Cubase

Hi,

Could you help me explaining how to sidechain a compressor in Cubase?

I'm assuming you insert the compressor on the actual channel you want to compress , but how do I trigger that compressor (with a kick for instance)?

i use Cubase SX2 and a variety of plug ins (Waves also).

Any "step-by-step" advise you could give would be great!
And yes: I have searched the forum on this, but have not found any specific "first you do this, then you do that" kind of info,

Thanks.

cheers,

BB

download a plugin by dB audioware, don't know the link but it was posted on here recently.

kick on channel 1
bass on channel 2

open a db-D compressor on channel 1
- hit send to A

open a db-D compressor on channel 2
- hit recv to A
- adjust ratio, threshold etc to your liking

channel one now controls channel 2.

Hi,

Great! I think have some dB plugins: will try this tonight.

BTW: does this also work with other compressor plugins like Waves?

Thanks again for your help!
