Well a VST is like another thing that you can host into FL.
Like another Synthesizer or something |

Sweet f;kjwef;jk now I'm hopping on the "go read the stickies" bandwagon.
Go read the stickies. All of them. Then come ask stuff; you won't have to ask stuff like this. |

V(irtual) S(tudio) T(echnology) is a program that can be loaded as a plugin into hosts like FL, Cubase, Sonar and Pro Sounds.
VST's are often used as instruments (both samples and generators) and also as FX units. VST _can_ replace hardware, but you wont get the same quality. It's just a cheap way to start! :-D
Reason only have built in instruments, and don't support VST's.
Anything else you want to know? |

| haha i wouldnt go as far as saying a cheap way to start alot of really good vsti's will set you back some cash. the quality is very much so dependent on the programmer. as unless you can program a good patch on hardware youll get and it goes same way with vstis. about the only thing that is hard to do as far as quality go is reproducing synth specfic sounds ie: jp80x0 supersaw, its nearly impossible with software as none of them can model the same way a jp80x0 but this goes true with hardware. trying to get a virus c to make a supersaw as persice as a jp80x0 is going to be nearly impossible aswell. now if your referring to the genral concenes(sp?) that vstis all sound too computerish then i dare you to learn the vsti more in and out. hell for most cases vstis are just as capeable as their hardware counterparts and offer more features ie: possibilty of more voices/polys which on hardware is usually limited. try to find a hardware synth for under 2grand that can produce over 64polys. |
