Hey guys, Im having real trouble creating my own atmosphere and depth to my tracks - the sort of thing I want to do I just have no idea of how to do it!
The sort of things id like to do (and create myself, not just add samples) are like these:-

Clip 1
I want to know how to create the effect on this little clip (the tut tut tut tut atmosphere lol)

and
Clip 2

I want to know how to create the noise on the pads (they sound amazing!!) Do you add white noise and just add fx - if so which ones etc?

I would be eternally grateful if you could point me in the right direction and ill start messing with those knobs!!

PS - For your info I use Cubase SX and just soft synths at the mo

The first is done with gating. You can get gating plugins or if u have FLS or FL then you can use whats called the peak controller which has a built in LFO. For that effect youll want to use the lfo portion with a floor (base) of something aroudn 10%-15% and then a ceiling of around 80%-90% or 100% if you prefer. You can also use the peak controlling portion of the plugin which allows you to draw notes in an instrument, dump the sound from that instrument into the plugin and the plugin reads the peaks from the instrument allowing for the same but sometimes better time synced staccato/gating effect. The other effect in the first clip is a band pass filter with probably an lfo using a sine or triangle wave on the frequency. Clip 2 is like what you were saying, just white noise. Use 3xosc if you want this sound and then run it through a bandpass filter.

Thanks Darksword that sort of makes sense - As I told you im using Cubase SX, and in particular just had a mess around with Vanguard and gated some white noise - and well, it sort of works, but instead of pitching downwards - it goes up! Is that why I need a peak controller? Is there one on Vanguard? Ive tried fiddling with most of the knobs but cant get it to pitch down like the sample clip. Its all very complicated!!

Thanks for your help all the same - its got me heading in the right direction anyway.

Come on guys - there must be someone out there who can help? Is it easier to do the noise with Albino?

Hey. A bunch of gating effects can be found here. I didn't check them out or anything but most plgisn on KVR have a rating so just stick to the higher rated ones :)

As for Albino. M expirience with it is somewhat limited but the expirience I do have was that it was pretty good at creating noise shots and creating sweepable effects.

Albino

Clip 1 is just the preset FX Daggahda (i think) in Vanguard. Im 120% sure it is from one of the FX presets at least.
Its pitched up. Each sound of the loop has been pitched up or down so you wont get the excact sound from the start. Youll need to slice it up and do some work on it.

As for the second clip, its just a pad/string sound with lots of reverb. It may be extremely difficult to get that sound from FL / Cubase plugins so you should consider buying a real good reverb, eventualy a Powercore.

If you listen to a lot of trance i bet you will hear the Vanguard presets in a lot of them. Many pro artists uses them. They just modify the FX a bit first so it wouldnt be too recognizable. Dunno remember the name of all the guys i know doing this..
Hope this helps!
