Anyone use Rockit 8 Monitors?

I am returning my Alesis Monitor 1 MKIIs. They just arent loud enough for me.

Guitar Center is pushing the Rockit 8s on me.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Alesis - $350/pair

Rockit 8 - $500/pair

1) I searched
2) I know they are nearfields and arent meant to be loud, but I need them louder.

oh god... i got the alesis active mk2's and i seriously wish i had gotten the rp8's... they sound sooooo crisp and clear...

the sound just punches through.... its somewhat on the flat side... but they definitely reproduce sound very very accurately... especially if your gonna be doing some producing too...
CosmoKid
i will not be doing any producing, but i would like a flat monitor.

guitar center has been good about returns so i guess i can test em out

How big is your room (or was it basement?).
If it's too small, you surely don't want big monitors as the low end will reflect all around, making mixing harder for you (the original signal will mix with the delayed/reflected signal).
If you have a big room, just try out those RP8's. The 8" woofer will bring significant more sound (and low end) than the alesis monitors you have now.
If all else fails, look at some decent hi-fi solution or save up and go for those JBL EON speakers (or equivalent). Those will surely be loud enough :).

P.S. You might want to change your sig ;)

I brought home the Rockits today. No chance to listen to them. The room is a decent size. Probably 12 x 18 with openings into smaller rooms.

The Rokit 8's? Are you sure they're not selling the KRK V8's? I have the V8's, bought them at Guitar Center for $500 each, and I think they're the step up from the Rokit series. I love them, they go loud enough for me. But be careful not to go beyond the clip limit or they will get HOT.

dude, Guitar Center owns 51% of this company from what i understand, thats why they are pushing it so hard. i worked in retail for many years, i know how this happens. i bought m-audio bx8's from them, but they kept throwing kvr's & rockit 8's in my face the WHOLE time. granted, the guys don't make commission but they do have sales goals and with those goals come a variety of bonus'. make sure to do your own research

yea, but i think if you have a good ear... its very easy to tell that the krk rp8's sound significantly better than the alesis monitor 1 mk2's and the m-audio bx-8's. especially those m-audio's.... the sound was just not worth the price at all...

i personally got the mk2's cuz tehy were a lil cheaper than the rokit 8's

Nice!
Tell us what you think of them after listening to them for a while. Especially compared to the Alesis monitors you had.
I'm interested in this as I'm biased between the two.

I bought them last night. I leave for Atlanta this afternoon (Chable and Seamen Sat night!- hopefully the Masters on Sunday). I wont be back until Tuesday night, but I will be playing with these on Wednesday.

Guitar Center didn't even have the Alesis set-up with the rest of the monitors. When I was comparing the sound of the Monitors, the Rockit 8s sounded better then the M-Audio's by far, better then the MKIIs, and even better then the KRKs that were a step-up in their line, but they were the 6s, not the 8s.

As long as these monitors are a bit louder then the Alesis, and at least as flat, I will be happy.

Guitar Center did give them to me for $448 including tax. Only a $100 more then I paid for the Alesis.

The Rockit's are so big they dont fit on my current stands. I have to pick up some Mopads and put them on my table.

The v8s are definately a step up. No way I could spend a grand on monitors. When my Paradigms get back from repair I am going to add them to this set-up in the back of the room to fill the sound.

Did you get my PM???

yea but thats not exactly surprising since the rockits are double the price of the m1s and have larger drivers. if you want to talk about monitors where money is not a factor then lets talk adam.
