This blows mapquest out of the water. Type in the address for a great roadmap view, then click "satellite" to see an acutal satellite overlay.
Now to make it political...discuss the Big Brother nature of such wonderful technology. Too bad the satellite feeds are not real-time! |

I'm afraid there are people working on that as we speak. Where does google find so much money to do all these things?
I wonder how long it will take for them to have this service in other countries (i.e. Brazil :D). 5 years, perhaps? |

Good question. I bet there are some international legal hurdles involved. It sure is a cool service. |

Very cool. I flew it across the Atlantic thinking and saw London and France, but unfortunately no underpants. No Eiffel Tower either as it required a level of zoom that the satellites didn't currently have for that region of the globe.
Damn, tried Terraserver.com as well and came up empty handed. |

I'd be nice if it could feed people in Africa too...

There's really no need. In times of war, I believe the department of defense asks companies like keyhole and what not to cease updating their satellite services for certain regions. For example, I think you would be hard pressed to find a private company doing imagery surveys of Iraq and selling that data. |

Shakka, you can get Paris from the DigitalGlobe's satellite ImageLibrary: http://www.digitalglobe.com/
They plaster their logo over the image unless you want to buy it, but the pics are there. |
