A Question to Kaoss Pad 2 Users

Ok, well I got one of these the other day on ebay as it was a good price and the thing is basically new, it was only used to check to see if it works (unwanted gift), anyway I'm not sure if it has a couple problem, here they are

1) when I select an effect even when the fx depth knob is down, if I touch the pad the effect comes on fully, I have to turn the fx depth knob all the way up then back down for it to not play sound threw the pad until I start turning up the fx depth knob, this also seems to only happen when I jump around the preprogrammed buttons though, if I just scroll threw the fx using the program button, the fx depth knob seems to stay working how I think it should be working.

2) on certain effects, when I apply them at full effect (so I should only hear the effected sound, and none of the original) it seems to lower the volume, this shows up as about a 2db drop on my mixers led meter, its only certain effects like the BPM looper and the BPM Rhythm gate that I have noticed it on, they work, but like I said, I apply the effect and the volume just seems to lack any kind of "alive" feeling, plus it drops the 2db or so.

It maybe me, as right now I'm super tired, and I haven't really messed around with it a whole lot yet, but anyway much help would be appreciated, I really wanna know if this is how the unit "should" be performing, just seems so weird with having to do a kinda reset of the fx depth knob whenever I jump from one effect to another, I can work with it this way, but just don't like it as its just one anoying thing to do, plus could touch it thinking its off and have an effect come on full blast, would not be good bring in a massive beat while playing to a crowd

are you running the kaoss pad through the effects send/receive part? if so what mixer are you using? that may have an effect on why there is a 2db drop.. but thats just speculation. try running the kaoss pad from the master out of the mixer. (mixer -> kaoss pad -> amp) that may help with the 'alive' sound if the send/receive isnt too good on the mixer.

I have the Denon X1500 mixer, I have it hooked up to the send/recieve, and I have the KP2 set to direct instead of loop, so that when I select a channel on my mixer to goto the KP the sound carries threw even when the channel is set on fully wet, which works well, I have it all setup so that the sound is the same level going threw the KP, you don't notice a drop or increase in sound when you go from dry to wet on the mixer, so its kinda like its setup like you would if it was hooked up to the master output, but like I said as soon as I apply some certain effects, the sound dies, but this might just be the way the effects are, my main concern is the fx depth knob which would not be effected in any way with how the KP2 is hooked up, its just so weird, I turn the unit on, and even if the knob is set at 0 depth, effects come on at 100% if I touch the pad, if I turn the knob upto 100 then back down to 0 then touch the pad, there is no sound till I turn the knob up, now when I scroll threw effects it works the same which is good, but if I jump to one of the presets, the sound comes on fully even if the knob is set to 0, so I have to turn the knob up and down again, this is becoming a pain in the ass.
