making a trance explosion sound (pg. 3)

You know, now that I hear it, that sample you posted, it sounds like a regular kick plus the explosion sample from Fruity Loops...I used to abuse it in my tracks back in the good ol' FL 3.57 days, hehe.

Well that sounds pretty damn good man, you just used reverb b from cubase to make that sound that good? Man I need to work with my samples more damn.

Booya! There it is.. w0rd.

Yeah, man. I love that reverb because there's only a few parameters to mess with so I never get lost trying to get the sound I want. It's either there or not. I also like Reverb A but don't use it that much...the sound is too colored for me. :)

Man, what have I been smoking! So could you tell me exactly what you did to the sample for the highs. Did you eq it as well as the reverb or are you just pumping the highs through the reverb? Or did you just have really crisp crash samples, none of my samples sound like that.
RiCo
Hmmm...weird...all my samples are crappy. I just mess with the EQ...you know...lift a little the highs and cut on the mudiness. Like this one, I used the same intro as the other one but a different track. Also I only used Synth1, the freeware VSTi...I've been messing with it since last night. I added Cubase delay and Reverb B to the samples. You have to mess with all the parameters, especially the room size and decay in order to get it right. I'm still learning...I've barely had time to mess with this music biz since I started almost 2 years ago.

Well I will have todo more eqing of samples and use a wave editor again or just get more intricate with my samples. Thanks man, your beats sound great too.

I like this intro too, I just have to learn more. I just learned to use generic remote in cubase sx to control my softsynths... my nord lead 3 is the controler heaven once I program all these parameters.
RiCo
I never use a wave editor...I do everything in Cubase. I don't want to process my sound many times, so I do everything in Cubase. And that's sweet, I wish I had an NL3...been wanting one since it came out but I never got around buying it. I got me an AN1x and a Nord Rack 2 instead and the rest of the money I keep spending it on my bikes and my Supra, LOL...I'll get one on day...the AN1x works great as a controller...this is my second AN1x...the first one I got it and sold it and then regretted it, haha, so I bought one again. I wanna get me the Virus TI also but I cannot justify spending two gees on something that'll collect dust like the rest of my synths because of lack of time to play.:wtf:

ah I bought my nord lead three for $1,200 on ebay almost a year ago. They had come out a year before for $2,700. I will never buy a new synth.... I just can't afford it these days. I bought a jomox x-base for $450 that was like new. They guy that used it had never used it from what I can tell.

I almost bought a virus classic, some guy was selling it for $600 which was almost brand new. Pretty good deal for no wear on a synth and the fact that it literally is brand new.

The nord lead had some coke spilled on it and I opened her up to clean her and got addition buttons from clavia, very nice of them. It is still sticky, I thought I cleaned it up well, I might open it up and clean here again.

Man I have a yamaha ex5, which has the an1x engine inside and that thing is fun. The ex5 is pretty cool if you want a motif but can't afford it. It has the same synth engine as the motif, the wav format. You can get a ex5 for like $450 on ebay, pretty nice steal actually. The only thing is the an1x has the knobs set up for the parameters better then the ex5, but the ex5 has 6 knobs, 2 mod wheels and a finger slide thing. You can program any of the controllers to the knobs, wheels and finger slide thing. It is pretty damn bad ass actually. You can also buy this flash ram and then use it to load samples in and then they can be used to make sounds. The effects are the same effects from the that digital mixer they made, the uv.

Yamaha parts is excellent as well, you can get parts in minutes from a nice person. I already replaced my knobs since I had used them so much because I used to sequence on that synth before I started using cubase.

Man you don't need a nord lead 3, you have a lead 2, that is fine. They say they are completely different, I guess they are but some people even prefer the nord lead 2 sound for is roughness more.

If I was going to get another synth, I would go for the andromeda from alesis. Those things are amazing. But seriously the softsynths kick ass, absynth is comparable to my ex5 for reals. I want a virus though, I need the powercore arg!@

I know what you mean about using it. I was going to sell my ex5 and emu xlead because I haven't made music in awhile. But I just made music for the last 3 days solid and it feels great. I love having the equipment and just being able to play it.

I have my jomox x-base and a tb-303 with some distorion pedals... it is pretty damn fun to just boot them up and play them. I mean I don't even use them for production at all, they are merely toys. I could use them in production I guess, but it is so much faster to just use micro tonic for kick drums and samples for high hats. I have used the 303 in some songs, but it is more rare since it is so hardcore for a trance track, maybe a hard trance track.

If you can afford it, I would never sell anything unless I never used it. I used to have a ms2000r and I sold that since I didn't like the sound of the synth really, I used it only for it's delay. I sold it for $350 since I needed the money. It hurt because I bought that synth as my first synth for $650 new.... hard to let it go really. I mean it made cool sounds, but it did sound sorta thin as one article said and it does sound sorta thin actually but it does have a analog sound.

Whatever I sold my old roland mc-505 with no regrets, that thing blew ass. It had like 2 drum kits in it really, but a few different samples for a couple different ones and then they had like 30 kits that all sounded the same. Most of the samples really sucked ass as well. I acutally bought one from ebay that was in horrible condition listened to it and then returned in the next day because it sounded so bad and was in such horrid condition. The buttons were so hard they could not even be pressed? That thing needed a full overhall.

I almost bought a TB-303 from eBay but couldn't justify spending $800 on a 20 year old overrated piece of equipment. I bought me Audiorealism Bassline instead which sounds pretty close for what I care. I had a TB-303 (or was it a TR-909?...don't remember) back in the 80's and got rid of it because hello, I was little and didn't have a clue, LOL. My first synth ever was the Xtreme Lead-1 in 2003. I didn't have a clue how to use it...didn't know it needed a keyboard, haha. So I got me an AN1x and messed with it for a while, then got my Prophecy. That thing was so awesome, but so hard to program and it was monophonic. I wanted a Z1 so I sold it later on. I got me a Nova and I loved it...IMHO, it's the easiest synth to program and the most gorgeous interface, including the screen. I had a Virus Rack and used it a little and then sold it. I got me the Nord Rack 2 and hated it until I learned how to program it. Now I love it for the bass sounds and string sounds. That thing doesn't have any effects but you can still make it sound fat and like delay with the LFOs. I haven't played with it for a while. I got a Drawmer DL241 compressor and never have used it...it's sitting in the rack, haha. Also an Aphex 204 aureal exciter...only used it once. I've been wanting to get rid of the Xtreme Lead-1 but there's so many cool wavetables and they sound so fat and clear, I cannot achieve those in my other synths. I'll probably never get rid of it, LOL. The AN1x is hard to program for me and I've only programmed a few bad ass patches but then I don't use them. :tongue2

I must agree, the nord lead sounds are complete crap. Every sound I use I program unless it comes from the venegence bank, somewhat useful... at least better than the presents ukkk. Don't they know that every trance techno artist has one? Shouldn't you put some trance sounds on it?

My ex5 I downloaded the european sound set, has great trance sounds made by yamaha, I still use some of the sounds, they are so good. The yamaha is way more skill to program then the nord lead, nord lead is the easiest thing to program in the world. The only thing easier doesn't exist!

I tried a prohecy, but I didn't like how you had to set the knobs to zero to use for filtering... that was annoying. Hey if you want to make use of your xlead, I just made a patch list for cubase sx that I can give you. I also have the techno expansion chip, so that is the user banks, xlead banks, and then techno banks.

If you want it I can email it to you or it is on the yahoo groups emu sites.

You are new to programing I guess then for the an1x. All you have todo is start with one sound source, then fool around with the adsr (attack delay sustain and release), also the pitch. The you goto the second sound source, or oscilator and you tune it to the first oscillator. You can do stupid tricks as well like have one +7 and the other -7 for pitch. Or one is 0 the other is -12 or +12 so it is like you are playing two ocatives at once.

This simple trick on the nord is you use the chord memory function to play 3 octaves of the same note. The you are playing 3 sounds at once right, but then you load the 2 osc's and they you have a total of 6 sounds playing at once. I learned this from the vegenence sound set from my nord. That is a really good idea to make these keyboards sound like a old jupiter 6-8 all thick and juicy.

You honestly think that sample you gave above sounds professional? All professional sounds have a fatter sound to it. I might just try a crash highly reverbated, alongwith a highly reverbed kick and the double the tracks and add distorion.

All the rest of you sound like ing idiots and should smoke more weed to make yourselfs stupider then you already are.

errrm idiot :P I thought it might be the kind of thing you might like...and to better express it than I can with words I made this in just about 20 seconds...didn't intend it to sound pro...

off to smoke some more weed to look as stupid as u do ;)
maybe we'll understand each other a bit more then ;)
