What makes a good oldschool party? (pg. 4)

Anyone remember "Carpe Diem" in Rochester, it was a very good old school club and the people had a very "self police" mentality, usually very few idiots.
The club was an old train station attached to the Court Street Bridge situated over the Genesee River, 4 dance/theme rooms, a posh chill out room, a deck that overlooked the falls/floodgate/aquaducts and a central bar area. The lighting was more of a mood setting, rather than moving lights/lasers/strobes blinding you at every turn.
great place in the 90s...all gone now. :( |

Cherry Beach (or rent out the floor space of the U of T hockey arena) + Couple of Big Name Djs, a live performance by one of the dance music groups, and assortment of good local tallent(hardcore, trance) + only advertize with flyers and word of mouth + two stacks of tower speakers on each side of the stage + smart drinks cart + someone selling glow sticks for cheap out of the back of their car.
Making a meeting point walking distance from the venue, in case it is not Cherry Beach.
The people will sort themselves out creating a vibe that they will enjoy. |

My Ideal Party.
The abandoned Whitby Psychiatric Mental Institution. There is an open area in the middle of all the buildings which would be PERFECT for a party. The DJ booth could be set up either in the middle with people partying on all sides, or up on the 2nd floor patio of one of the buildings. Lighting and sound could be set up on roofs of the surrounding buildings as needed.
The party could be an all day/night open air event, with djs starting to spin around 10am or noon. A 24 hour party would be ideal. Id prefer to get djs that normally dont get a chance to spin over here though, so we can mix things up a bit.
Drinks... BYOB, with water being sold at booths all over the place. Heavy security patrolling for fights, but they would not pressure for drugs and alcohol. Have a medical crew on scene to make sure nothing happens.
Security, check for weapons.
I figure you could fit about 10-30k people in that area, depending on how you arrange it. If you decide to spread into the parking lot and open feild beside the existing mental institution over there, you can probably fit in excess of 100k people. It would be awesome :P |

| ,, and there is this weird, abandoned low ceiling building,, on Beverly ( st george and college) and,, everytime i walk by it,, i think how awesome it would be to have an old school party there,, to break in and set up and throw one down it would be quite awesome,, allthough its in a residential area,,, it would probably get shut down pretty fast... |

vicks was used back in the day when ppl would take e...a wiff of vicks would enhance the high of e. ppl used to wear those white masks that covered their mouth & nose and smear a load of it so that they can breath it all night long!!!
