why? its one kid. sure, the baby had no chance to fend for itself which is horrible, but its only one kid. I wonder how many kids starved in Africa in that same weekend?

Yet another sign of social degeneration.

Humanity, when will you ever live up to your responsibilities?

This wasn't the first, and it wont be the last. People think this is unique to our time of day, and affects us cause we only read about it one in every few years in the news. Sadly enough, reality outside of this is even worse.

i understand the point you are trying to make, but it doesnt matter if its one kid or 20 kids, its the life of an innocent helpless child that was lost. and to just say its one kid shows that you might not value life as much as you should. im not gonna judge you for your statements, i just pray that you see that all life is valuable and for something like this to happen to an infant is a tragidy.

I'm with you on that one Baki.
The point about kids dying in africa is totally true, but anytime a child dies for any reason and certainly for a reason as stupid as this one is tragic.
Matt
I feel for the father, and props to him for appealing the sentance. 3 years is a joke. Even worse was that the mother's lawyers were pushing for 18 month sentance with no jail time. The mother should be doing 8 years minimum hard time.

I am sure many of you are deeply saddened by this news, but children die from dehydration and starvation every day across the world from disease, famine and war. Find out how you can help:

Im not trying to make a point. I dont see this as a horrible tragedy. Its one life. One on a planet of six billion or so. while it may be senseless and tragic, in the grand scheme of things it sucks for the family, and only the family. It has no affect on my outlook on things. I dont believe that it should have any affect on yours.

either that or you would be up in arms everyday for the things that happen world wide everyday.--which im certainly not. I accept death as natural, even when caused by un natural things such as horribly negligant mothers.

Your logic is flawed. Your attitute about the one life lost here is precisely why the thousands who die elsewhere in the world go unheeded.
j_spot
I dont particularly care for thousands of deaths either. Bring on SARS, bird flu, WWIII or any other means of reducing the world population. Just leave the planet liveable in the end.

yes I am a heartless bastard.

One who places such a low value on life certainly must have nothing to live for.

Even if you think you do, you don't, because you are "One on a planet of six billion or so."

I'm glad I don't have such despair colouring my worldview.
