I don't even understand why the you guys even post here. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but if you don't have anything positive to say, then STFU and get out of the thread. This is obviously a pro hip-hop thread so stop trying to strike an unnecessary argument and leave it alone. We understand that you're anti hip-hop..so you made your point and you have nothing else valid to say. You guys are correct when you say that this is a trance board. However, I see no admin objecting to this thread so it obviously is a valid conversation. Rap is a form of poetry put over a melody, making it music. It matters not what they rap about, but it still is music. If you take no time to go deep into the roots of this genre, then we can only take pity on you. But please don't be a stereotypical prick by bashing on others who have a different taste than you.

Last I checked, it was you who couldn't grasp the grand simplicity of fact that any music reliant upon an electronic means can constitute as electronic music. All the arguments you provided thusfar have been moot.

And pop is more of a concept than a defined genre of music, much in the same sense that Christian music is. Pop music can sound like anything, really. Mainstream trends during the past forty years have proven this well.

As for the intellect of hip-hop, there has been no such criteria given to determine whether or not one genre is more intellectual than another, most attempts to insinuate otherwise have been without credible argument. Saying that trance is more intellectually superior than another is pretty damn dumb as it is already; I mean, seriously, take that plug out of your ass and stop the pseudo-intellectual elitism. As a matter of fact, I'd be willing to place a heavy wager that hip-hop in general is far more intellectual than the crap being spewed forth as trance simply due to what seems to be that hip-hop artists (yes, this includes that top ten pop-hop stuff) are more technically proficient than your average trance producer and the fact that the genre tends to spawn a far more diverse sound in comparison to the formulaic Euro-anthems we've all been bombarded with over the past ten years.

Oh, and one more thing. Hydarnes, Hissiprissy, this may come as decent mind to you guys - the first trance song (The KLF's 1988 Pure Trance Original Mix of their hit What Time Is Love), believe it or not, contained rap vocals on the main versions of the song.

*sigh* I have neither the time nor the energy at this point to flog an already mutilated horse. It goes without saying that this debate was concluded long ago (partially characterized by your conspicious absence from addressing any of the relevant and critical arguments that were to follow). If you really think that reiterating your antiquated (and previously refuted, I might add) arguments are going to afford you anything more than a pretentious pat on the back to those that piteously share your bias, you are free to believe whatever delusion you like, but don't expect me to fall for this foolishness twice.

The point is that this is a Trance board. This isn't a place to talk about any unrelated musical genre that we might like. If people want to talk about Hip-hop, go to a different board because this surely ain't the place. If they wish to go ahead and audaciously clutter the forum with such content anyway, flames should be expected, and rightly so.

Your point is well understood. However, it's not your place to take on the role of TA police, enforcer of the Music Discussion forum. So, why must you flame, instead of condemning us in your mind? It's a lot less combative. And also in many minds, including myself, rap is a type of electronic music (don't try and change my mind, it's a waste of words). Therefore I consider the thread valid, whether it be trance or not, especially since the description says "Trance or any electronic music." Once again, we are all entitled to our opinion. It's a he said/she said battle, and no one will win. So lets just leave it alone and stop flaming people because of there opinion.
