i've only been to avalon once- sasha on nye 2004- and i must say it was one of the best clubbing experiences ever. i was shocked to hear how everyone hates it now, because it was GREAT that night! and that was on nye, where i had to wait 1.5 hrs to get in, as well as be a sardine for a few hrs of the night. however, i expected that, and that wasnt avalons fault. i would def go back if a dj i loved was there, and have a great time again!

Getting hit on is nothing new, but getting hit on at Avalon more often than not involves getting your literally grabbed or getting some guy literally throwing himself on you. The only other club where the pick-up scene is comparable is Webster Hall, which is even dirtier. Crobar, Spirit, Roxy --> I have never been hit on to the extent that I was hit on at Avalon. I believe this is because the bridge and tunnel crowd goes to Avalon, and in general a bunch of dirty people who for whatever reason, like to frequent that club.

That leads me to my next point. Changing the crowd at Avalon would be nice, but not enough people care about that to come out and have a real good EDM lover concentration on any Avalon night. Simply put, too many real EDM fans who love a DJ playing at Avalon have had such bad experiences there that it would take an open bar, free lap dances, and free admission to bring them back. Just make some of the lap dancers male for us ladies, thanks.

+1, this is so true. Sound problems and heat i can handle (sometimes) but old asian men hitting on me with an idea that i'm a blond girl ready to do everything for money - can ruin everything. hate this!

it has nothing to do with race, it has everything to do with my own experience.

wouldn't simply stating, old men be sufficient then? i guess the "asian" part was necessary to prove your point?

who cares ? maybe its because it was old ASIAN men that harrased her. i hear that and have seen it many times myself. you shouldnt get defensive with stuff if you werent a part of it.

The funniest thing that ever happened to me in terms of getting hit on was that two middle aged men came up to me at Roxy (whew, Avalon's off the hook this time) couldn't speak English very well, and started saying something like, "You come dance? You dance with us?" Then pulled out a stack of $100 bills: "You come with us, you come. We give money. We give drugs." :haha: :haha:
