oh, man i thought you were angry. i was gonna be all 'what did he do now?' but good, i dont have to discipline the boy today. back on topic, yes his old stuff is really good, listening to it brings back memories of the old days, being sixteen, in highschool, broke as , and downloading essential mixes on WinMX on a 56k modem.

LOL, no . Ya, I dont like his recent too much (Tiesto too) But to (at least me) alot his majorly rocked at a time to me.

Im just happily venting on the old sets you dig up that make you go crazy like they originally did. I love that feeling it like its from new great EDM (not only trance) & I assume alot of you do too.

oh shut up w/ the ing "oakey rocked in 99" bull.

if i had a f'n penny for every time i heard that, i'd be rich.

i was actually disappointed with him during wmc at crobar for the perfecto party. he actually spun that he would have in 99.

some of the best semi-recent sets of his were from his Heineken Thirst tour...more specifically his Buenos Aires set w/ Future Shock "On My Mind" and "Wish You Were Here", etc...

why do all the big DJ's have the sickest sets from other countries like 2-3 months before they come to US and then they get here and just totally switch up the genre and go back to cheese? that's just been my observation...especially with Tiesto.

I dont listen to many sets, but listening to old trance sets gives me the feeling of my first year in high school.

They think that people in the United States are, on a whole, uneducated about dance music, and this is generally true. I suppose they feel that playing the 'popular' records will garner more crowd interest than playing out new stuff that people aren't familiar with. Remember, probably 80-90% of the people at these shows have a very limited knowledge of EDM beyond what they see from mainstream CD releases, so most of the music is still new to them. They can't all be freak music addicts like we are! :D
DjArTiN!
Ya, I listened to the same exact set couple of days ago after like 6 months. I just got shivers.

That is very true it took sometime for Armin Van Buuren to notice his crowd in Washington D.C. wasn't just anyone bnut people who are deicated to his music so its great when comes around because he just doesn't play old/or cheesie .

Slylee
The last time I saw armin was like almost 2 years ago when he came to this club in south beach called Nerve. I think it was like only the 2nd weekend of that club being opened and I don’t think it got a lot of promotion because the club was huge and I’d say there was probably no more than about 70 people there. lol anyway, he started throwing down some really sick prog/breaks songs in the beginning of his set and I was like, “hell yea”. Then 2 songs later he started playing really bad cheese...like no bassline whatsoever. so everyone was just standing there whistling with their hands in the air. I was majorly disappointed. The only cool part was when he was done with his set, he came down and started drinking beers with all of us and just shootin the .

oakey plays absoloute dog in the US from what i have seen, these sets recently do not compare to any of his older sets...he is my favourite dj ever and i saw him a lot in 1999, and trust me he is nothing of what he was although i'd never miss the chance to see oakey live just for the atmosphere he brings.
