Carrie Skipper - Time Goes By (Super8 Deep Mix) <--- WOW.   :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:

The album starts off with a leading beat, and a fine tune in it of itself. Though it's nothing new, hell, this entire album is nothing new. In fact, this is pretty much where my interest piquéd.... but lets get to the part of this album I did like. The mixing was solid. No huge trainwrecks, no instances of "digital black" or anything of the such. It's a straight mix and will keep the body moving in the general sense. Other than this though, completely boring, unoriginal, and not close to being worth a penny of your hard-earned cash.

I always thought the Anjuna Beats compilations were supposed to headline up-and-coming releases from Anjuna Recordings. This album does nothing of the sort. Alt + F4? That track is back from 2004... which was supposed to be covered by Anjuna Beats Volume 2. Smith & Pledger - Northern Lights, old, Kyau vs. Albert - Made Of Sun, old. The only really new tracks on here featured from Anjuna that held anyone's interest are Air For Life (Airwave remix), and Oceanlab - Sirens of the Sea.

Airwave's remix of Air For Life does hold its own against the original. It sets a good trancey tone, which is the tone of this album. So, even though I like the original more than the Airwave remix, in this instance, the original mix would have felt completely out of place. I will give credit where credit is due on that one.

The new Oceanlab, however, is completely terrible. Euro-cheese, and just outrightly bad. Admittedly, I'm not a huge Oceanlab fan. The only track I really could endure by them was Satellite. Clear Blue Water, Sky Falls Down, and Beautiful Together were all just plain distasteful. Same goes for Justine Suissa; she has a voice literally meant for epic trance anthems yet always wastes her vocal talent on cheesey productions like Burned With Desire. This new Oceanlab is just as cheesey as all the other tracks mentioned there. I can say I did like the vocal lead-ins, but the chorus is nearly painful to the ears. I apologize, but I just don't think this track has any chance whatsoever of growing on me.

The Carrie Skipper track is the only track that I didn't really know much about that I liked on this album. Nice vocal track, though nothing ground-breaking.

In essence, this whole album just left me wondering what the hell it was trying to accomplish? Was it trying to be a release of all the newest Anjuna productions? If so, completely failed. Is it trying to be a good, new mix by Above & Beyond? If so, it's mediocre at best. Is it trying to be something groundbreaking? If so, you can't do that by spinning productions from 2004 that were featured on ASOTs dating as far back as 170, and tracks that every bedroom dj has spun at his own party. So exactly what are Above & Beyond trying to accomplish with this one?

3/10

Firstly, it's 'Anjunabeats' and there's no such thing as "Anjuna Recordings".

When was it ever supposed to be covered by volume 2? It wasn't if you check the release dates! Also take into account it was the most successful Anjuna release from it's date of release if i'm not mistaken, they were hardly not going to include it considering it's popularity.

No, brand new. It's only been in the DJ's boxes for just over a month now and isn't on general promo purchase yet either.

Another one of Anjuna's biggest hits. Remember this compilation is not just about new stuff, but show casing some of the classic tracks since the release of volume 2.

eh? what the are you smoking? air for life has been on DJ's playlists for a couple of months now, people hadn't even heard the new Aalto, MK Vs JG, or Aspekt tracks. They are by far newer were definately being hyped enough by those interested.

Would you really expect a different style compared to the first four releases under the same guise?

looks like you're just out to flame the album regardless of getting your facts right?! Would you care to recommend a current trance compilation worthy of listening to? This is a comp showing the Anjunabeats label's classic and new work since volume 2 or stuff from anjuna related artists. The album does exactly what everyone expected it to provide... if you expected different, your a mug.

well said, Nell.

but she's right at least on the new Oceanlab track. very bad effort. the remix by K&A are pretty bad. i'd like to hear the original mix before making a final judgement on the track.

I'm with Nell on this.

Ok, the Oceanlab track I dont like, but then I never did like Oceanlab stuff. Simple fact is I really enjoy this album, and i'm looking forward to seeing A&B at global gathering! :D
