Well, I'm going to London sometime early in May. I'm going with my family so I'm not thinking of clubbing and such while I'm there. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone from London could tell me where the best record stores are (that sell a lot of vinyl). I'm mainly looking for techno, epic trance, hard trance and not to be forgotten, old school goatrance ;)
and.. I know that juno is located in london, but do they have any record store (other than on the internet)? I couldn't find anything about it on their website so I'm guessing not but I'm asking just in case anyone know something else...
thanks,
jh |

Mad Records is awesome. Give 'em a try. They're a little difficult to find but they're the best trance record store in London, IMHO. Although techno isn't my thing, I'm told they're good at that as well (they run a couple of their own labels).
Juno are a web retailer only. As far as I'm aware they don't have a walk-in shop.
If you get the time, I also thoroughly recommend a trip to Oxford (only about an hour on the train from central London). There's two great shops there which are quite different and which are both well worth the visit. Massive is perhaps the best shop for trance in the UK and there's a wonderful second-hand store called Avid, whose basement is filled with dance music like you wouldn't believe. Both are ten minutes walk from the railway station and are two minutes from each other. Your family can look round wonderful historic Oxford while you spend all your money on great vinyl. :D
PM me if you want more info. :) |

Yea i kno u still can't see . easiest way is go on oxford street, south on poland till you reach the end, make a right on broadwick, left on Lexing, then the first street (Beak Street), make a left and you'll find yourself in a small alley. mad records is on the right.
Sounds like a lot of turns, but they're pretty much walk 10 steps, turn, walk 5 steps, turn, etc. just trying to make it clear for ya. ;) |

No Probs :)
That HMV Megastore is GODSEND!!
Theres staff standing 24/7 by the aisles replenning stock, problem with that... It gets replen with different titles,
The Trance area is only a bodies length, but If you keep waiting you'll pick up some gems.
I got
Binary Finary - 1999 Gouryella & Kaycee Mix £4!!!
Also spotted a few other rares and whites
The Virgin Megastore has a slightly bigger selection, packed with a few gems and whites, not as busy as HMV but worth the look, also look out for the anjunabeats 3 for £10 deal
There is a Price Difference between the shops, bout £1 or £2
More Vinyl shops to visit and spend soon :D |
