And while you eat that, I'll enjoy my BBQ'ed to perfection Black Angus sirloin steak! :D |
Well I eat it once every couple of months...not even...there's really no harm in that. Not to mention that Harveys is really NOT much different...at the end of the day you get pretty much the same thing in terms of nutritional value...
I'm actually looking at the nutritional table of both right now and there's really almost no difference. You might as well say you're just as brainwashed as I am (the opposite way though)
Also...when you're abroad you can go into McDonald's and know what you're getting ;) Easy, cheap, no sweat... |

Then what would you say about me....I don't eat McDonald's either but I have gone into Harvey's for a breakfast and I've ordered the value size burger (tossed one side of the bun and had no ketchup or guck....just the real vegetables like lettuce and tomatoes) with no fries and no sugary fountain pop. Does that make me Corporate brainwashed  I think NOT...only went their cuz the $$$ value for a quick bite was nearby |

You're right, most American style fast food joints are pretty equal when it comes to nutritional value (or lack thereof!).
I remember seeing the McDonalds nutritional table a while back, and if memory serves me correctly, a Big Mac has something like 2x your daily recommended intake of fat! But yeah I suppose once and a while as a treat does no real harm. I just really despise the whole fast food culture I guess.
You eat McDonalds when abroad? Wow, usually when I'm abroad I indulge in the local cuisine! If anything, when I travel abroad I want to get AWAY from the North American lifestyle -- but sadly globalization is making it so there is no where to run to get away!
Still one of my fav pics:

LOL SurrJRS...do u remember in super size me how they asked the kids if they recognized some logos on a card....and how they all knew with smiles about McDonald's LOL....classic brainwashing.
I remember as a kid in New York City...how they had Ronald McDonald visit the schools during lunch hour. |
Yep, it all starts with kids. I think the point was clearly illustrated in the Atheist thread that children brought up with a certain faith will most likely have a *very* strong cling to that religion throughout their lives. Kids are very impressionable, and it's extremely hard to reverse negative programming later on in life.
Warning! McD's Star of Death is almost compleat!

Oh no I definitely try the other cultures...I'm just saying that you need a quick bite - something that you know will fill you up. Besides sometimes trying the local cultures means dishing out 40Euros compared to about 7-8 in McDonald's lol :p (just a reference)
About the daily fat intake...That's probabbly the full meal (which I never get - always get a salad instead of fries). The burger on it's own is actually no that bad in terms of nutritional stuff...the only problem with them is that they are LOOOOOOOOADED with salts which are not good for you in the long run.
(By the way I have nothing against Harveys personally I do enjoy their stuff too...)
Here's just the burger from McDonalds (let's say big mac)
Serving Size: 209g
Calories: 530
Fat: 28g (43% of daily value)
Saturated Fat: 10
Trans Fat: 0.5
Carbs: 45g (15% of daily value)
Protein: 25g
Compared to Harveys Original Hamburger:
Serving Size: 157g (smaller size)
Calories: 407
Fat: 20g (30% of daily value)
Saturated Fat: 8.4
Trans Fat: 0.5
Carbs: 36g (12% of daily value)
Protein: 20g
So really...I mean at the end of the day it's exactly the same thing :) |

George Lucas might sue me if I call it by it's other name! :p
The best "fast food" IMHO would be your local pub. Sure it might cost you a few bucks/euros/quid/whatever extra, and maybe 10min more to prepare, but it's well worth it me thinks! ;) |

I just think there's something wrong with the food in North America period...and I have no idea what it is. The whole organic craze is really silly too...people dish out SO MUCH CASH for practically the same thing - THAT"'S brilliant marketing for you ;) and brainwashing. But I still think 100% that there's something wrong with the food here....it doesn't taste as good, and it definitely isn't nearly as nutritious and healthy (as it appears) as the foods in Europe for example...
But anyway...happy birthday MickeyD's ;) |

Hey....I'm not brainwashed that one is better than the other :whip:
I hardly eat harvey's or other burgers. I prefer real food thank you.
Did a lot of research when we ran our catering business...and the stats would scare you. Seriously. I hardly ever eat fast food....Will only go near it if pressed for time and budget. It's better to eat something than have the glycemic/insulin levels go up in our body. |
