I've been reading the threads in these forums for a long time now without ever posting, because I never really even had a strong enough foundation to post intelligently.
Thanks to the people on this board I've begun to move on from my initial collection of generic tiesto and buuren tunes, although both are still enjoyable from time to time.
Anyways I feel like I'm starting to actually define my own interests. As my iTunes was playing on random, the track "Blind Tiger" by Layo & Bushwacka! came up from the animatrix CD.
I gotta say I love the unique horn and piano sounds that pick up throughout the song! The drum beat is still there but it's not overbearingly present and the song manages to maintain a laidback feel while still being energetic.
My question is, what are some other songs out there with a similar feel to this one? I'd love to start making my own personal mixes, and this would definetly be a good theme for the first one.
Along those lines, are there any programs freely available that will essentially do the work of the DJ for you and allow you to just string together tracks into a passably smooth mix? I was considering trying the player offered on beatport, but I don't really know if that's what I'm looking for.
