I'm looking to buy a seperate unit with only effects. I have a mixer and everything else, I just want effects to have some more fun. Can anyone help me? I don't even know what they are called... which makes it difficult to search for them. Oh, and the cheaper and simpler the better.
Thanks :) |

| Might also want to check out the Korg Kaoss pad 2... I find that more fun to use than the pioneer ones personally. |

| Yep, those are the two main ones. Deciding between the efx and kaoss pad 2 is difficult. It prety much comes down to the Kp2 is more has more creativity values, but takes practice to get it right, while the efx is easier to use, and control consistantly. |

there is also sumthing called an alesis - ineko
i personally havent used one, but i no that they cost about £90. so its by far the cheapest of the lot. so u may want to check that one out. then there is that airsynth??? also by alesis i think. not too sure on the name of this one, but its a blue object with a black wheel on it. again this costs around the same price, and again i have had no experience on this one, so im afraid i cant be of much help. |

was wonderin the same...
i imagine with the kp2 you drag your finger across the pad and it controls effects... how many effects can you control and whith how many fingers?... |

| I remember Bt played here in NYCV two years ago and was using some sort of effects pad that shot out beams of light. He would wave his hand in front of it to manipulate the effects. Anyone know what he could have been using? |

Sounds to me like BT was using either the Alesis AirFX or Alesis AirSynth.
Both good and fun, but very hard to duplicate effects.
I own a Kaosspad 2, the thing does some amazing things, it can be tricky to do the exact same effects twice, but just takes practice, the fun factor on it is 11 out of 10 though. |

| Which one's better, sound/effects quality wise, the KaossPad2 or the EFX? |

i dont really think you can take those two and compare them spec-wise... they both control effects but in a totally different way...
as far as quality id bet theyre both in the same area... the KP2 is a Korg product and their business is all about making instruments like synths, drum machines, and keyboards... im sure the quality is great
have a look at the video on the site http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?a...2&category_id=2
both units have great effects capabilities but theyre both so different as far as the interface its like comparing apples and oranges |

The kaoss pad 2 has better sound quality than the efx.
As far as effect, that depends person to person. The kaoss pad 2 has more effects, if thats what youre asking. Although some people say it has too many. |
