OK..i got a new comp...
And the audio when up all the way is loud...but not loud where it can make my ears bleed like on my old comp...
So i bought a new sound card...a SoundBlaster 24bit card...and it made it sound 10x better (not louder but clearer)...
Now since i upgraded my sound card...the only thing else i could see causing low volume would be my headphones...which are the same ones i used on my old comp, whos sound was built onto the motherboard....
so basically - how come my old Dell had a crap soundcard built onto the motherboard and it was loud as hell...but my new Dell has an upgraded sound card but the volume is not that high all the way up..using the SAME headphones...i mean on my old comp i couldnt put the volume all the way up cus it would make my ears ring for a few hours...
So how can i make the volume louder? |

back in the olden days of computing (more than a couple of years ago) the output on the soundcards + onboard sounds was amplified. These days since nearly every new pc comes supplied with some form of apmpified speaker (from the low end cheepo stero to top of range dolby thx surround etc) the output is at "line out" (think thats the right term) level
if you wanna use headphones then best bet is to visit a hi fi shop and ask for a small amp to power headphones
you have checked the contorl pannel sounds settings + mixer settings I assume |

aaaaahhh that makes sense...cus my old comp was from 1998....
So basically they do that cus 99% of people use speakers that our externally amped....makes sense..but sucks for people who use headphones...
how does an amp work with headphones? |

| I think all powered computer speakers now have headphone jacks (and volume controls, of course). |

yeah in most cases there's a headphone jack that's pretty much always been the case.
in regards to headphone amp

you could get a pocket headphone amp starting at around 50 to a 100 dollars but they can also run some serious money in the hundreds
if you're seriously considering this then check out
