The weather is here folks. The bug has bit and it has bit hard.

Let's see your bikes. Here's the '02 Yamaha Vstar 650 Classic that my father and I share (excuse the ty pics, I'm too lazy right now to pull the bike out of the garage).

Click the pics for fullsize versions:

650cc 60° aircooled v-twin engine. Shaft drive, 5-spd transmission, shaft-drive. Totally not my kind of bike. I don't like cruisers much, but it's a great little bike to learn on.

I'm jonesin' for a Kawasaki Z1000:

...or an MV Agusta Brutale S:

Too bad they don't sell MV Agustas in Canada :(

Realistically, by mid-summer I hope to acquire one of these, a '99-05 Suzuki SV650S:

As you can probably tell, I have a major penchant for naked sportbikes.

Now, post your bikes!

no bike for me, but I wish I did(cruiser, yamaha virago). Id get my liscence in an instant if I was a resident of ontario, but im not about to change from alberta just for it...so until I go home for long enough, no motocycles for me.

I too have a penchant for naked sport bikes...and 100% agree with your choices. Mmmmmmmmm....love the Z1000! :D

I dont have a bike (yet)...I went for my lessons a few years ago, but failed my exam (exam was done late October, in the rain, on bike with cold tires. I lowsided while braking in a curve....luckily, it was at like 20mph).

It's a pain in the ass to get your permit/liscense in Quebec tho.

My dream beginner bike is the Suzuki Bandit 400.

Yes, it's a bike, but it's cool looking (like a Ducati Monster) and would suit my skinny 140 lb ass just fine.

Plus, its cheap...can probably find one for like $2000 or less.

I would love to get my licence to purchase a bike, but someone told me that girls aren't good drivers so I shouldn't bother to get one :D

Maybe next year though!

Depends. For basic coverage on an '03 Z1000 I personally would be paying about $3200/yr. With full coverage, you don't even want to know.

And this is with a 100% clean record.

Picked it up 5 days after my 16th birthday, drove it until just before I turned 18. Bikes are top notch, uberfun.

1 spill ever. 2 months after I got it. Slid about 30 feet down a road after hitting some slick road patch while turning left.

"Never wear shorts and t-shirts while riding a bike".

After my 30 foot slide, I never did that again. Road pizza all along my left side, tearing off the gear shift (stuck in first) and driving the 10 km going 15 km hour bleeding wasn't fun.

Every yeah I say I'll save this year, and every year without fail, I get too lazy. I rode a Kawasaki EX500 for three weeks a couple of years ago. Now I just drool whenever I see a bike fly by.
