How big is your city?? Is there a demand for the rave?? Do you think you can get a lot of peeps to go. Are there going to be problems with finding a venue. First steps should be to find out some laws regarding noise and afterhour gatherings.

hey amit, tell me what city you're in. anywhere close to LA? but stereoprincess makes a good point. is there demand? is there competition? if so what kind of draw will you have? in order to get a good dj it's gonna cost $$$$$!!!! i know cuz i'm one of the head promoters for a club out here in LA and right now dj prices are pretty freakin' high! also if this rave is not gonna be in a permitted club then definitely check out the crack-house laws. you can get busted for this. you have to know the risks involved. definitely if you throw this thing undaground then have no line of people or stragglers hanging about out front. don't have the music too loud outside of the building. main point is don't attract the attention of local authorities. right now in the states, electronic music is the new evil, so don't think the pigs won't be all too happy to bust your party up. there have been a lot of busted up parties out this way in the last few months. but not to destroy the vision. i say go for it but be smart about it. i'm actually organizing one with a few friends to be thrown in february hopefully. first thing you want is music. my friends and i are djing our own. we're throwing a small party that mostly friends will go to. if you're attracting anybody then you might wanna consider getting a dj that has a following. besides dj's is sound. you'll need quality speakers. make sure that it's adequate for the venue though. there is such a thing as too much. also consider some lighting and decorations. make sure you have the man power to organize the crowds. and you'll have to be fairly sober the whole night in order to take care of any problems that might arise. i used to throw a lot of parties when i was in college. it's a lot of work before and during but afterwards you get a good feeling. sort of like "the nod" in groove. anyways, best wishes on your endeavors. let me know if you need anymore guidance. don't know if i can provide it but i'll try my best. cheers!!!

booking talent, advertising/printing flyers, security,sound/lights is all a piece of cake!
if you've got the money, legal issues is really the only thing standing in your way. if u have a good lawyer friend...ask him/her for help.
the hardest part about throwing raves/massives is finding a suitable venue... cause once they find out you're throwing a "rave" the local muinicipality/law enforcement WILL YOU OVER!

trust me, i know all the big rave promoters in Texas. i myself am thinking of throwing a party...i already got vicious vic and jeremy dawson lined up, i just need to find a good venue.

and remember, the ACLU is your best friend.
