Mini disc players

I'm thinking of getting one so I can record my mixes, as I'll be needing some very soon to record a mix for a project of mine. What are some good mini disc player models that have a recording feature on them? Also, how exactly does the mini disc player connect to my DJ setup to record?

wouldn't recommend it for recording dj sets. it's a completely different method of encoding. it loses a lot of quality, and then you have to transfer it again to mp3/wav on your computer. i'd recommend a DAT recorder, though they're a bit expensive.

Well there's no way I'm paying for a DAT recorder, and if you don't recommend mini disc what should I use then? This is pretty urgent.

i guess get an external sound card and a laptop.

why don't you just record directly to your pc using soundforge (or even total recorder)?

or that.

That's not an option. My PC is in a completely different part of the house from my DJ setup.

get an extremely long male Y-cable, or
move it.

I bought the SONY MZ R70 like four years ago. It was pretty expensive at the time (€300) but it's been worth the money. It still works as good as the first day i got it. You can record with it and i dont really have the impression that i lose any quality with it, could be though but what the heck, you'll never notice.

Heres a pic of it

I'm sure its alot cheaper by now and there are probably hundreds of other models out there that also would satisfy your need but well ... this certainly is a good one!

Oh and the recording is childplay
One part of the Y cable into your mixing table line out and the single side of ur cable goes to ur MD line in; then ... just press the red button :)

I had a Sony MD, and I hated it. It just randomly stopped being able to record one day, pissed me off.

Someone told me Sony has some crap with copyright issues where you can only upload a file from the minidisc once to your PC. Is this true? Anyone who uses a minidisc who can clarify this for me?
