Computer Overloading???

| if you were to be running cubase, reason, gigastudio and kontakt simultanious on a 1.5gighrtz 1280ram do you think the computer could handle it? or crash like a mother******? |

| it depends what you are doing with those programs,how much vst-is you loaded,i think any complex project will crash on 1.5ghz,but 1280ram is enough |

| You'll be able to run them all but yea, if you have alot of stuff loaded in each, more than likely it will crash espescially with 128 ram, my opinion you should have at least 512 before you even start. |

adjust your cpu usage for applications, create mulitple drives and put your samples, loops, one-shots etc on one drive. The promblem I've run into with VSTI's is that they have to access so many files that it slows your system down and drains the processor. |

btw. 1280, not 128 (i think thats right, i have two sticks of 512 and one of 256) i wouldn't of even bother posting this with only 128 lol, my computer couldn't even handle cubase with that. |

| also, make sure there are no driver conflicts. some asio drivers can only be loaded in one instance. in other words, some drivers can't be loaded by different programs at the simultaneously. |

since gigastudio and kontakt are samplers, you shouldn't experience too much cpu load, so this cpu might be just fine, unless you use a lot of hi-quality plugins. this amount of ram is pretty good, but it depends on the instruments of course ... we don't know how big your instruments are.
anyway, if your computer is set up properly (drivers, windows tweaking, etc.) it will most certainly not crash. maybe a glitch or two from time, but it won't crash. the main question here is the speed of your hard disks if you will use a lot of sample streaming, but that is something you must try out yourself. a friend of mine makes tracks on his p3 933 with 256 mb ram and windows 98 (not reinstalled for 3 years), and while it is not very reliable, he is more than able to make some kickass tracks (house, trance, techhouse, goa, breaks, ambient). |

Yes. Please elaborate on this DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of XP. Isn't it XP with just a bunch of tweaks done aimed to enhance audio production? |

| yep,something like this....a friend of mine made a version of win but ofcourse there is only one serial so it's ilegal to sell or give.you can find on the internet more about that and ofcourse you can make your own version...dont install as your main OS as many "function" will disapear and a lot of you hardware - software will not work(including the internet connection). |
