The respect for human life bit would work if we didn't have such a long history of either supporting or turning a blind eye to other human rights violators such as Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Chile ~~~~~, etc.

Well, in 99% of circumstances(basically excluding any loonies), if the tables were turned; the survivor, who was unarmed and wounded, would've been taken into custody and treated for his wounds. In this scenario, the other side found the wounded man, made him stand up on a broken leg, told him to run, and then shot him multiple times at point blank. You seem to think that the U.S. military is not trained to fight with honor. These people are exhibiting behavior like the monkeys in 2001: A Space Odyssey. They are savages. Let's not bring up the incident a couple of years ago when they beat charred bodies and strung them up on a bridge to celebrate the death of Americans.
I'm not saying they should like our being over there. However, the sociopathic behavior they exhibit is deplorable. They are not civilized human beings. Yes, it is dangerous over there. That doesn't make this kind of behavior any more acceptable. |

We should have looked at the tenacity of Islamic militant/rebel/guerrilla groups and how they have acted in other war zones.
They don't take any from anyone, even their own country men (which is moot in this case as they don't really consider the Shiites countrymen at all, based on the long history of tension between groups in that area).

oh i can handle it just fine. it actually does make sense to me in some twisted and sick relativist (like youself and others here) way why they murder their own. they were doing it years before we stepped in.
my point is that we all think this is stupid. we all believe the Iraqi people deserve better, right? then the people who are actually on the ground, in the country trying to give the Iraqi people that furure deserve a little more moral support than what you kids, sitting back risking nothing, are spewing.
think about it, your argument is too little too late. the world kept turning while you inhaled the smokescreen of a new European order of isolationism and false unity.
i'm not going to take anything away from people who want better and willing to risk their lives to do it. and i'm not alone. |

Firstly, I'm not celebrating any of this. Secondly, it's a war zone. For them, there's really isn't much distinction between military personel and anyone else there who isn't Iraqi. It's a ing war zone and they see pretty much anyone not Iraqi there to usurp their resources (oil) and install a puppet goverment which obeys US orders. Plus, we don't get to hear about alot of the crap going on there but they do(like Iraqi women being raped and humiliated by American soldiers). Go watch something else other than fox or cnn. You're in denial and need to snap out of it.
EDIT: not to mention that the fact that they're in a war zone which probably makes the fundamentalist 100 times nuttier. |

First off, nobody is stealing any oil. Secondly, one would hope that a new government would be friendly towards the U.S. since the U.S. took the lionshare of the risk in the first place, however the goal here is not to install a puppet regime; the longer-term goal is to hand complete and total control back to Iraqis so that they can govern themselves as they see fit, now how a maniacal dictator sees fit(I am talking about Saddam in case any naysayers thought they had an easy layup attack on Dubya). |

secondly, tell a newly registered Iraqi voter that he's in denial or to snap out of it. tell the same thing to the Mayor of Baghdad. tell that crap to an Iraqi national guardsman walking his watch at a pipeline somewhere in the desert.
