3 consequences of this:
- increased contract cancellation fees (but who cancels their contract anyway?)
- outrageous number portability change fees
- increase in system access fees (they will include a port fee probably $2.50 / month, which will make access fees ~$10)
-------------
I'm not saying this is bad, I've been hounding the CRTC with emails on this for years - I believe the increased cost is worth the ability to change providers and keep my number. |

interesting u mention that RJ .. what's funny is that by the time LNP is implemented , they might have settled that stupid $6.95 system access fee that's been taken to court

| This was announced about a year ago, it's good to see that it's finally getting implemented. And now with Virgin getting into the mobile game, we should see some good deals popping up. |

| Good News! Its still bad that there is only one GSM network tho, cause it wont be that easy (impossible) to change from rogers to any of the other two if you dont change phones... |

yeah unforunately someone in the mounds of government bureaucracy apparently still doesn't think that having only 1 GSM carrier is in anyway anti-competitive ..

Yea I never understood that system access fee when I'm already paying them for the airtime access I'm using...:wtf:
It's not like they have to initialize my phone on their network every month or something...
What a lot o' crock! :whip: |

The settlement will be:
to change the name from using the "access" word to "infrastructure"
*or*
raise your rate plan $6.50 / month
----
Don't think you'll ever escape that fee. |

hell, if my cell were a computer, it would be like dos :toothless
actually, i don't really care about the number change. i just don't want one of those new weird area codes: 289 or 634. but this saves me some trouble :) |
