I am trying to get together a simple set for me to start mixing on but am such a noob at this point I dont really know what to do. I started looking around and noticed that places have package deals which look pretty cool. I dont have a WHOLE lot to spend. So I am trying to figure out which stuff I can get that is sorta quality but isnt also gonna blow a hole right through my bank account. I was wondering if any of these package deals looks pretty good?

| you should check out ebay...usually you can get good deals on technics. you should save up. i know its hard sometimes...but its well worth the wait if you can get some quality tables instead of buying crappy ones, then upgrading later. i was in your position a while back, didnt have the cash to get technics...but started saving up and luckily my buddy was selling his gear. saved up....got techs...couldnt be happier :) |

DJ Rule Number One:
Get good gear the first time.
I know you are trying to be cost conscious but, eventually you will want to upgrade your equipment if you start off with mediocre stuff - which will cost you more in the long run than if you just purchased the good gear the first time.
DJ Rule Number Two:
Test the gear first!
Lots of people will reccomendations about brands but, ultimately YOU are going to be the one playing on the equipment. If it's some funky brand, so what, as long as you know it's going to work for you. When it comes to tables, lots of people reccomend Techs; I reccomend Techs but, get out there and play with EVERYTHING so you know what else is available and you don't shortchange yourself.
DJ Rule Number Three:
Have fun dude.
Just wait 'til you get your gear and you will your pants with excitement.
On another note DOOMBOT, I'm going to be moving to Philly/Jersey area. Is Manayunk a pretty nice neighborhood? I've never been to Philly or Jersey and I'm trying to find a place to live up there. It's just hard looking at stuff on the internet and I have no idea what the neighborhoods are like. Any help is appreciated. |
