Recording from a DJM 600 problem

I'm experiencing some trouble setting my levels up for recording from this mixer. I've got my cable coming out of the recording out and into the line in on my PC.
The trouble is I have the level on windows sound settings adjusted right at the bottom of the scale and I still have music being distorted.
The levels display for each input are not red-lining, yet the master is. Unfortunately lowering the master volume seems to have no bearing on the volume of the recording out output on my mixer.
Not sure if any of this makes sense, but if somebody could help I'd be grateful. |

Change the cables round so it records from the booth monitor, works a treat! :toocool: |

No, its so that you can hear what your playing out say if you were playing a big system. Trust me it works, thats the way I record from mine, and you can change the level with the dial too so your levels are always right

| If your not happy with recording out the booth output try adjusting the 'MASTER ATTN.' knob on the back of the mixer while recording out of the Master channel. I wouldnt use the booth out for recording as I found it lacking quality wise compared to the master when I used to own that mixer... Hope this helps :) |

the levels coming out of the DJM 600 are very hot.
i record thru Pro Tools with an Mbox and XLR's on the master.
i have to turn the master way down to get a good level (around the 1 or the 2 mark on the mixer, you barly see the level coming out on the master).
i use the booth out to my monitors to listen to the mix
i have the preamps on my tables and cd turntables turned up to the 0 level.
its kinda a pain using the headphone cue, but once you get used to it its alright. |

| Iv had this problem too, the way i solved it was by turning the trims down on all chanells and then turn up the volume on my amp. I know there are better ways to do it but this one works for me. |
