problem with denon s1000 cd player...wtf?!

just picked up a denon s1000. plugged it in, and the sound is horrible. i checked all the rca cables, didnt work. still sounded like crap. the eq was insanely in the red. I thought it was the rca cables so I switched them, and nothing. wasnt the CD either.
however...when i plugged the rca cables into my stereo, the sound came out fine. im thinking it might be my mixer. some crappy numark dm2000 something.
could anybody give me some help with this issue??? |

| sounds like you have the CD player plugged into the phono inputs on your mixer. switch it to Line/CD and it will work a lot better ;) |

| Switch from phono to line...but tell your father or something to buy you a xone 92 cause your mixer is crap...always works |

| I bought the 5000 model two years ago and I had the same problem. It was makign like a cackling sound, real fuzzy. I had to take it back. |
