Any word on Summerfest DJ's?

No announcement on the official site yet, anyone know any of the Summerfest promotion team and even whether or not they are planning on having some decent headlining DJ's? I wasn't able to make it to the likes of Oakenfold last year, so I don't know how the turnout was, but I'd love to see some more talent come to Milwaukee, and this is likely the only time it will happen as a lot of other Mil-town gigs seem to get canned (Zabiela, Holden, etc.)

i was also unable to make it to oakenfold last year. im hoping for at least one good name to come through this year.

And on the main stage, even. I heard Oakenfold was on a leeetle one last year. Booooo.

i made it to oakenfold last year and was overall unimpressed. i hear BT was the dj from the year before. let's hope for some good acts this year!!

no DJ will be on the "main stage" (Marcus Amphitheatre) at Summerfest. they save that for the "big" names like Tim McGraw, Britney Spears, Tom Petty, etc... the stage that they've had DJs at the last two years is actually a pretty decent sized stage (compared to some of the other small stages). estimated turn-out for Oakenfold last year was 9,500 people (which is WAY larger than any club in the midwest, i'm sure). and the nice thing about that stage (North Shore Bank Landing) is that it's right next to the lake, which sets a pretty nice atmosphere.

they usually start announcing more names for the ground stages in May; just keep an eye on the schedule @ summerfest.com. i'm just as curious to see what headlining DJ they're going to book this year. BT & Crystal Method in 2003, Felix da Housecat & Paul Oakenfold in 2004 - both AMAZING nights at Summerfest. they usually book someone semi-famous (in the DJ world, anyway) and mainstream.

despite what people say about Oakie, i had a seriously amazing time at his Summerfest set last year. it's gonna be hard to beat that. :D

here's just a small glimpse of the crowd @ Oakie last year:

Damn Myra! That looks like a real good showing! Thanks for posting the pic...

Can anyone else say "Ferry C at Summerfest?"

I've had a blast the last 2 years, seeing BT & Oakenfold/Felix and would be really surprised if they didn't have the Landing stage again this year. If they have the Landing stage again it'll be EDM for a whole day with bigger names for the 9 pm & the closing sets.

Rob, are you going to see Christopher Lawrence in addition to Holden & AvB next month?

Naw man, at some point in the month of May I need to focus on getting finals accomplished and this is so far what my May weekends look like:

May 8th: Trey Anastasio @ The Rave
May 14th: Holden @ Vision
May 21st: Armin @ Vision
May 29-30: DEMF (Markus, KT, Elevation, Sasha, Desyn)

Going to be a good month; I'm going to be broke by the end of it... here's to hoping my grades pull through!

that photo was from Oakenfold's website. i've got a bunch of my own photos from that night but they're mainly photos of me and all my crackhead friends.

yep, a bunch of us mentioned (or wished for, rather) Ferry @ Summerfest in a thread a while back. i doubt he'd get booked though, unfortunately (even though he IS scheduled for a show in Detroit during the week of Summerfest).

surely if the Summerfest committee could afford to book Oakie, they could afford to book...

TIEST000000RZ!!!!! :stongue: i'm wayyyy kidding.

^^^^Funniest thing I've read all day^^^^

:clown: Tiesto :clown: at Summerfest? :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: Imagine the Vision set but with way more readily accessible schwag beer around, 20X as many scantily clad females, etc...

I'd give him an hour, tops, before he passed out over the tables and fell into the crowd...

... but I guess that in itself could be worth the trip :D

...

Oh and by the way, be sure to check out my set on Rising Stars this week featuring at least one Tiesto Track :D :D :D :D ;) ;) ;) ;) :D :D :D :D

... I'm so ashamed ...

Well I'll see you at AvB & probably Holden then...plus don't forget BT is playing in Detroit that same weekend as DEMF! I'll probably find $$$ to make it there too.

Back to Summerfest, I remember leaving early into Crystal Method's set 2 years ago and it was just as crowded as that Oakie picture, so EDM has clearly been a hit. I don't think Ferry will get booked or Tiesto either, but I think it would be nice if someone like D:Fuse gets booked for the spot just before the headliner, as he's even gotten some mainstream radio airtime in the midwest and might be known to some summerfesters that don't normally listen to EDM.

I thought that show got cancelled. Wasn't it replaced by Markus Schulz??
