| Can someone help me, something is up with winamp, lately it won't play anything smoothly, it keeps stuttering like its having trouble reading the mp3 or the stream, its not my system specs as there top notch, and I got nothing else running, its never done this before, and now it does it constantly with any music, but it does get worse when I start loading things up, so it is like running winamp on a low end system, but I've watched movies and played games with it running in the background, and its never happened before, does anybody know whats up or if its some virus going round, I completely uninstalled winamp and then installed it with no visuals or plugins and it does the same thing, WTF is up with this , in winblows. |

I did uninstall, redownload and then install it, but nothing, it might be abit wank, but I like many features about it, and I use it to listen to alot of online radio. |

| i used to have that problem on my old desktop pc... it was my hard drive which was always forced into PIO mode instead of DMA, which caused it to be very VERY slow |

I think I might have a similar problem, I just noticed its not just winamp, its everything, everything is actually stuttering, its like every few seconds the computer freezes for afew milliseconds, like when you scroll threw a page its smooth then stops and then jerks forward, WTF, I've seen this before but it was ages ago on a friends computer, anybody know whats up?, it seems to be happening since I installed the latest Java software, I think anyway. |

sounds like a hard drive could be on its way out, attempting to read clusters of info, but those dodgy bits are just buggering up the read stylus thingy and it is stuttering over them.
maybe a defrag will help.
isn't there an program in windows that logs EVERYTHING that happens, and it tells you if sectors in hard drives are difficult to read? if that is the case, then the HD could be in its death throes... |
