Has anyone else seen this wicked movie? One of the main stars is Takeshi Kitano, the principal character in Zatoichi. I'm not really inclined to give movie reviews, so i'll just paste from imdb.
Tagline: Could you kill your best friend?
Plot Outline: 42 high school students are forced to kill each other on an uninhabited island.
User Comments: Heavily flawed, but still quite gripping.

anyways, through a friend, I'm on my way to getting the authentic jdm Battle Royale 1/2 DVDs.
god damn, there is a load of information on BR on wikipedia. First and foremost the resembelence and delay of BR2 in light of the WTC attacks. The link to 2 child murderers (one being slightly more disturbing in the fact that her photo sparked a fashion/anime fad in Japan). And the inability to find a movie distributor in America that would risk showing a film as controversial to have 42 teenagers killing each other off (Lions Gate?)
anyways, so I hope they get here faster than my jdm option videos do |

waitaminit, wasnt part of xenogears based on this? the whole prison plot? battles, exploding collars etc. |

yeah, battle royale is good :D
i especially like the part near the beginning where they are watching the video with the cute cheerful girl describing their situation..
it does lack in many areas, but it still is very entertaining |

From what I remember I agree with this, the movie is very entertaining. The movie does try to explore further themes (apart from 'the survival of the fittest'). Still, overall a quality film. |
