Ya mate, check my website in my profile! :)
Gentoo is like BSD for Linux. Best of both worlds IMHO. And I could NEVER leave Linux cuz i'm in love with netfilter too much! |

Never tried BSD but tried most linux dists and i must say gentoo is superior to all of them :)
It's so easy, yet so complicated/customizable! :D
only bad thing with gentoo is that it can be pretty annoying after you have been compileing X or something else that takes hours, and then getting an error message when you are almost done :p but hey thats life :)
beeing on windows most of the time nowadays tho since my host family doesnt get the great things with linux (and i sooooo remember why i started to use linux now :)), but i have my laptop (with gentoo) i can play with at least :) but gentoo on a shared 56k just isnt the same thing... |

The *BSD's have their place.
OpenBSD: Security.
FreeBSD: Solid Server.
NetBSD: Install on your toaster.
And JunOS (Juniper Routers) and Darwin (OS X) are based on BSD as well.
Gentoo I have on my servers and one of my KVM desktops. I had Gentoo on my laptop, but it was painful to "make world". My laptop has Ubuntu Linux on it (based on Debian but *actually* updated more than once a decade :whip: ) And apt-get pwns!
But still, nothing beats: emerge sync && emerge -Du world <insert long coffee break here>
And yes, you now may feel free to yell "Nerd" in my general direction. :p
:) ;) |
