Exactly what im looking for?

Hey People :D

Id appriciate if someone helped me find the music i like.

See, i have heard lots of trance music and some of it is ok, but some of it is legendry.

What im getting at, is now and again a song will come along i like. This is because i dont really know what im looking for.

The stuff i like seems to tke 3-4 mins to get into usually an then goes proper bangin lol i know its a lame discrtiption of trance but i can cut alot of it out the equation, i DISPISE vocal trance music. Listenin to some woman chattin nonsense about love over a sick tune really gets to me.

So since im a newbie kinda, these are tunes which came and died for me but got battered because i liked them. Now im looking for more but im stuck.

Gouryella (tenchi, walhalla, gouryella and theres another one i gorget), binary finary 98, I dont mind vocal tracks such as PVD for an angel an nothing but you. Sensation the anthem 2004, tiesto (traffic, forever 2moro, urban train etc). Tiesto does some quality stuff but his stuff is mostly hit and miss with me.

Recent stuff i found i like:

Red Flag - Pacific Memory (Original Mix)

Midor & Six4Eight vs 2XLC - Unity (Midor & Six4Eight Mix) [perfect example of what i want to find more of)

a1 hydroid-incurved

Agnelli & Nelson prst Ultra-Holding Onto Nothing(PVD edit) [its ok]

Does this kind of music have a section of trance to itself? So i can look up vinyl sites and havea listen, riught now its just a case of listenin to samples from every trance tune released an pickin them out but thats so much efforts. The boards here are helpful but again i dont really know what style i like in order to pick out relevent posts. (ie whats progressive trance etc).

Anyways id be most greatful for any tunes you might like to recommend to me.

Ugh this post is really vague but hopefully someone knows what i mean?

Quality site by the way :D

Cheers.

you should go into virgin/amazon, or someplace like it, and randomly chose 5 cds by people you think you have heard of. Or atleast have cool cd covers.

no one hear can tell you what you like. As what you like will probably change anyway...

you can also go to the amerature dj forum, and download hundreds of sets there weekly, by a lot of really good djs...

ahhh

cheers man,

The problem is, i have owned loads of CDs in the past. I tried the random cd thing before and got loads of tiesto albums, and erik morillo and state of trance #38989 or whatever but it seems, even know i just gave a tiny example of what i like, the DJs tend to be really random. IE: i doubt id have found the song you quoted on a mainstream release. This is my problem.

Ahh ill just have a listen around like i been doin, worth a try to ask tho!

Woah this board is sick for replies. I didnt know there was that many people interested!!!

Its kind of hard to explain, my mates basically turned into pillheads and batter cream and stuff. Coz i liked some of the things they listened to, i would basically only get what they defined as a "quality track" and if i didnt get given it to listen to, id hear it through my wall anyways. So although i have heard loads of stuff, my mates seemed to know what id like and then tell me to have a listen.

Thats what annoys me tho, they knew what i liked but i never knew where they found those tunes, now we all moved on etc an this is the problem im faced wit!

Anyways ill catch up on the posts so far before i reply again!

Thanks for the quick reply!

Also if you seem to like an artist/need info just about anything music wise go to

www.discogs.com

then just tipe in the artist or cd name...

most of the artists have the same style. So if you like one track, you will most likely like the others as well...

haha, dude you remind me of myself when i first started hunting for good music. what you'll find is that, over time, your tastes will expand and you'll like more and more of what youre hearing.

firstly id check out all the downloads in the TA downloads section, and note which artists/tracks you like, then go searching for those artists. there are more amateur DJs on TA than you can poke a stick at, and they've got plenty of mixes for your perusal. check them as well. after a while you'll get a handle on exactly what you like and the search gets easier.

also download soundbites from record stores which can give you more artists you might be interested in. on a site like vinylwarning.com.au you can search with all kind of descriptive words of the style that you like.

on the TA downloads id recommend the Nu-Nrg live @ orgasmatron- thats where i got started pretty much :)

Welcome Deviance! A couple things I'd like to clarify.

There is plenty of vocal trance that has little to do with love, and if I'm understanding you correctly you mean "commercial" vocal trance. Not even all commercial vocal trance speaks about love, but I catch your drift. There's a lot of great vocal trance out there that has nothing to do with commercial acts like Ian Van Dahl or Lasgo (not really trance at all).

Gouryella - Ligaya is a good example of quality vocal trance that you might like (if you haven't already heard it). You also mentioned "Urban Train", which is vocal trance as well. My point is, in your haste to tell us how horrible some commercial "vocal trance" is becoming, don't confuse the good stuff with that. ;)

Your best bet of finding the kind of trance that you want is to stick around similar discussion boards and see what the other members are talking about.

Cheers!
