He really isn't. The mods do run this place like a daycare center. But don't take that to mean I'm complaining about it. I can't even imagine how many posts must get deleted before I see them. There are benefits and drawbacks as with any situation like this.
This is a wonderful place and I love it wholeheartedly. I love the international feel, the music, and the community. The people you meet here are one of a kind. We really do take for granted how well the moderators keep this place clean. It is very rare for me to come across any "griefers" or trolls. That's because the moderators are quick to let these people know they are not welcome here. What you're left with are legitimate users with a legitimate environment to interact in. You'll be hard pressed to find any similar online community that manages to do this so well.
With all that considered it is hard to complain, but that's never stopped me before. Sometimes the moderators do take it a little too far. It would also be nice to have more reciprocity involved in the relationship. This place is run with an iron fist, we're told what to like, what's acceptable, no if-ands-or-buts, their way or the highway, if you don't like it don't come back. This is all communicated purely through observation. Swamper and his army of moderators lurk in the shadows, whos actions can only be speculated on. Its rare to have them explain what they do or why they do it and be damned if they ever ask for your opinion on the matter, regardless of how long you've been a member.
Admittedly, it is their call, but it would be nice if there was some way the fan base could come to a sense of closure knowing they can contribute to the betterment of the community they have come to love other than just being here. (5 points to anyone who can find the donation link) All due props to Swamper and the work he does to keep everything going. However, it is a fact of life that it can come off as arrogance when a leadership figure chooses to ignore his followers rather than address them and keep them up-to-date. We're told there is a Version 2.0 of TA on it's way, but what does this entail, how soon should it be expected, what can we do to help? What about the future of TA? It is obvious that the site is growing, but can anyone say with any certainty where it is going? Are there plans to keep it small or will we explode and seek more exposure? Seeing as much time as I devote to it, I am interested to know. It becomes rather frustrating when these questions go unanswered without any inclination to why. Thats enough for now, I'm surprised if you've made it this far anyways.
P.S. Yes, many of you are geeks and many times continue to amaze me to how much of a degree this is true. |
you know if there was actually less ing around, the more it would encourage Djs & producers to share their ideas. Instead they see so much crap that they don't say anything at all, and dont even check the forum. |
