By spats, I mean moments where I feel overwhelmed, and a sense of panic. I'm not trying to get sympathy, dick. Just explaining that I don't need prescription drugs to get over it. I would usually go to the bar and drink too. Too young? Are you ing retarded? I'm 26. Did someone in your cereal this morning? BONG!

On the same token, Xanex are pretty fun, recreationally. Any cares one might have, go out the window for that time. I usually feel pretty alright afterwards too.

I also throw my back out, from time to time, and having a couple of muscle relaxers comes in handy. But I'm not gonna go see the doctor and come up with some sob story, trying to get him to prescribe me drugs. :haha:

I was considering it but a lot of people have killed themselves on it, people who weren't suicidal before.

just ignore the guy, he has no idea what it's like, fits into the category I described in my first post, those who either don't understand or feel superior because of it

those who don't know about it for some reason think that not doing anything about it makes you the normal person, good for you for trying to get therapy and whatnot.

yes it is about getting over yourself. how old are you now? people who spend years in therapy are obviously not making any progress. therapy is something that should have an end, a solution, a fix. if you're in it for several years then its not therapy its mentoring

i dont think theres anything out there that can help whatever you got

clinical depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain meaning it's permanent so a therapist helps you deal with things like that. therapy lasts a long time if you want it to work and you have serious issues. it starts with getting to know you and then moves to specific issues, each specific disorder (social phobia for example) can take months and up to a year to start to deal with and that's just one specific disorder.

You know, like the prescribed drugs =p.

How are they? Do they work? What type?

I know alot of people are against taking pills, I am one of them... Especially taking pills for depression since it's much deeper (I think fixing what's making you depressed w/ out the pills is what is needed).

Anyway. Anxiety seems to be a much, much harder issue to control.

Anxiety is linked to drepression so, if you have anxiety chances are you suffer from depression too.

Pills are necessary for some to function properly in everyday life, but many become dependent. Read Brave New World, it has a great prophecy about soma (drugs that help you escape) that is in the process of being lived out in society.

I put myself into therapy a few months ago and not a day goes by that I don't regret it. I've almost always been against anti-depressants. I used to steal my moms and they made me feel fake so I stopped using them. I felt that the problems should be dealt with using therapy as opposed to a drug that might just temporarily fix things.

I've gotten a little better over the last few months but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean much but I'm in this with open arms. There are just too many things wrong with me to handle on my own (serious depression which is likely clinical, social phobia, attention deficit disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder) and that's just the problems that have a face at this point. You have no idea how liberating it is when you find out that your problem has a face and a name, you don't feel alienated and alone and that you are the only person this is happening to.

Congrats to all those have have the guts to face their problems head on by seeking help, staying silent and not talking to someone when you have serious issues will harm you and possibly others. If anyone every needs anyone to talk to about this type of thing I'm here and my moms a nurse so I can find out info about medication, treatment, etc.

yah! wait, huh? im confused

so are you pro or con therapy & pills

I can't say until I've tried ones that are specificaly reccomended for me but I'm against them for the most part, for young people anyways. There have been a lot of teen suicides from teens who were taking anti depressants.

I can see how, if it didn't give people suicidal tendencies, it would be helpful to people with clinical or severe depression because a smaller dose would help them cope as they are going through the therapy process and whatnot.

I have mixed feelings about them and think they should only be used for strong depression and only if they actualy work.
