Hey people,
Recently bought a jp8080. Great synth but I have one MAJOR problem: I can't get the midi-in working. Midi out is working fine, i've tested it by recording in logic 5.5.1 and then move the buttons/sliders. The data is recorded, that's not the problem.
I have reloaded the factory settings, the jp is working then on midichannel 1 and midichannel 2. In logic I have building a few blocks with notes and in the transportbar I can see that the data is send to midiout (of my soundcard). I've try to connect this cable to the midi-in AND the remote kb-in of my jp, it's not working.
The strange thing is, when I plug in my Virus it works fine.
So the connections seems to be fine....
Also the jp works in demomode and in preview mode, so it's working. Problem is the damn midi. It won't f*cking respond.
Anyone an idea? Please help me and I owe you one... |

Read the manual! :)
I had the oposite problem, but fixed now!
Look in section 9 in the manual. |

Thanks for you reply but I've read the manual!
The manual is like: look page (21), look page (118), look page (121) etc.
Anyway, I'm glad that I met someone with the same problem.
How did you fix it? |

I have a JP8000, so this is not an exact method.
I got it about two weeks ago, but I've experimented a lot with settings.
Below is my setup. Hope it helps. If it doesn't I can find a scanned manual for the JP8000 for you. Might be some answers there.
MIDI PRM settings
- TX/RX Edit mode = MODE1
- Perform Ctrl CH = 2
- Remote Ctrl CH = 2
- Device ID = 17
MIDI SW
- MIDI Sync = ON
- Rx Exclusive SW = ON
PFM COMMON settings
- Output Assign = MIX OUT |

Thanks for your reply, but i got the manual already. Read it from the first to the last page, nothing helps.
I've called the dealer and I think it's my current setup or something. He tested it at his studio before he sent it to me, but it doesn't work here at the moment. My virus is working great on channel 1 or 2.
If you reload the factory settings and use midi1 or midi2 you must be able to hear a sound. I don't get it...
Anyone got such a strange problem....??? |

| Can you get the modulation joystick to work? What seqencer do you use? |

The solution is always right under your nose ;) .
Thanks for your reply's. I'm happy to say that i've sold the problem. What whas the solution? Not the Roland, not the configuration of the Roland, not my midi-cable, not my sequencer. Can you still follow it? I don't.
I ordered a midisport 2x2. When it arrived i tested the new device on my Virus, it worked right away. When i tested it on the Roland (with EXACTLY the same settings as all the tests before) it also works.
The only thing that has changed is the midi-out driver. The old driver worked fine on channel 1 on my virus, but don't worked on my roland. SO, it may be that the solution was under my nose, but I fixed this by accident and still DON'T know what the exact problem was. |
