Looking for good headphones

Hey guys :)
I'm sick of not having headphones for my mp3 player! They broke few weeks ago and didn't choose which to buy! I can't wait anymore to not listening to A State of Trance anywhere than on my computer.
Since you should be aware of good sound equipment, I'm looking for a pair of headphones, new or barelly used. I'm not trying to buying something here, I just wanna know which headphones you would recommend me.
I'll use it about everywhere but usually on my mp3 player. I'm not a DJ so I don't need something really expensive. I was really looking for a pair of Sony MDR-V700, but even the price on Ebay (120$CDN) is pretty high. Of course these are awesome headphones (I used them at a show when they came on the market), but maybe a big pricey.
Anyone heard about the Numark PHX? They seem pretty good and aren't really expensive. I know that Numark is pretty good in DJ stuff (IMO), but never used their headphones. It comes with plenty of stuff.
Otherwise, I was looking into Sennheiser and their HD serie. Heard good things about their HD570, but a bit pricey. Anybody to comment on these one? I'm using Sennheiser PC150 on my computer and the sound quality is excellent, and I heard that Sennheiser has this reputation.
Any other suggestions? To be sincere, the PHX seems really nice, but I'm a bit scared about the sound quality at that price. I'm seeking for good bass (not too much) and loud headphones. Sound quality is one of my first priority.
I've been a sound tech for 3 years before and since, I can't listen to 20 bucks headphones...too crappy sound, it hurts my ears!
Thanks :)
Neo
edit: And what about Stanton? I never used them but their "old" DJ Pro 2000 seems pretty nice...I've seen many people using Stanton during gigs or shows. |

v700 will break under daily use
I reccoment the sony 7506 studio monitors. they have metal replaceable hinges where the v700 has plastic ones that break and turn your headphones into junk.
Ive hade mine for 3 years and they finally cracked last summer. Quick trip to the sony store, a cheap piece out of a catalogue (but they refuse to allow you to do the labour yourself) and the headphones are fixed. Cost $30 instead of a new pair for $200 |

thanks for your replies guys :)
I'll check into the dj booth section to see what I can find there.
As for the sony 7506, they are right on my cash limit lol. I can find them for 120$CDN on Ebay or 190$ elsewhere.
But just wondering, anyone uses the Stanton DJ Pro 2000S? They seem great and from what I know, Stanton is pretty popular for DJs and musical jobs.
I know that Sony is good, because I always had Sony headphones (except on my computer which I need an headset) and never had problems with them. But their MDR line is pretty expensive compared to other companies...they seem overpriced. |

| I used to use a Pair of Sennhaiser HD-212 (i think, i'll check when i get home). Ran me $60 US 3 years ago and they are still in great shape, even though I have abused them. Yesterday, however, I bought a pair of Sony MDR-V300's. Not as good sound quality as the Sennhaiser pair, but I was looking for something that was easy to take on the go and was a bit smaller. Anyhow, since you said that the headphones were for an mp3 player, the quality of headphones doesn't need to be that great since the music is already heavily compressed and consequently the sound quality is not that great to begin with. I'm happy with my Sony MDR-V300's and they only cost me $60 CDN and are very light weight. |

both seems really nice. I have no doubts that Sennheiser HD has a superior sound than Sony MDR. And what if I told you that I might buy some basic DJ stuff this summer, in order to have some fun with it, would you still recommend me Sony MDR-300 for a DJ setup? |

no sir!
Maybe something at home that is very low-key, but you really should spring for a better pair of headphones if you are going to use them to DJ
EDIT: btw my home headphones are HD-212 Pro's,
I would recommend those for a cheap pair of DJ headphones |
