just wondering where to buy gear in perth/fremantle and what to buy.
if anyone has any reccomendations, please post, cause I have no idea what to buy ! I want to keep it under $2000, any places selling second hand? |

To be honest mate, stick it out for two months and buy your stuff when you get back to Norway.
The prices here are a touch inflated, you'd be able to get the stuff cheaper (and with a local warranty) back in Europe. |

I think you can get some stuff cheaper here, not the turntables though. The mixers are a bit cheaper and the nails (is that what you call them? the thing that scratches against the vinyl to pick up the sound) and dont I get the Gst back?
What equipment should I go for? |

Cartridges, and or needles.
And the problem with buying in Australia would be transport back...I don't know what the weight limitations would be on your luggage would be for the trip back, but tables, a mixer and vinyls are heavy as hell. Secondly, you'd have to buy some kind of carrying case for the turntables and mixer, or you'd risk damaging them during travel. Unless of course you keep the original packaging and trust that it will stand up to the abuse of travel.
IMO, wait till you get back. Find someone who has tables now, try them out repeatedly with them and then make the call as to whether or not you're willing to spend the cash and time on doing it for yourself when you get back home. Nothing's worse than spending the $1500 on the equipment only to find yourself getting bored 1 month in. |
