Progressive trance: Sasha- Xpander. Similar to classic trance in that it tends to be long and flowing, but more melody centred with more polished production.
Uplifting trance: Not actually a genre. Any trance track that you find uplfting could be called this.
Vocal trance: Any trance with vocals. |

| An addition to Vocal Trance: Quite often confused with new eurodance because they both use a similar soundpatch in many cases. |

all trance is set against a standard 4/4 drum kick with hi-hats offset.
Progressive Trance: Trance that emerged in the mid 90's, usually had a set breakdown/build up structure, and a bassline that changed notes accompanying a repetitive arpeggiated lead synth, unlike classic trance.
Epic/Anthem (Uplifting:rolleyes: ) Trance: Progressive trance times everything, emerged in late 90's. Characterized by extended breakdowns(60-180 seconds), lead synth/basslline note changes lasting for extended periods of time(up there around 200 bars), complete focus on the lead melody which is always accompanied by wall to wall wash effects in addition to the bassline, if it is not a giant supersaw itself (hi airwave), and set against two or three at most extra arpeggiated lines.
maybe i should be the trance critic. |
