HA!

Anyway, Popping is from Pop-locking which is a form of breakdancing. It's hard to really teach it, either you got it or you don't. If you got it then you can go on the learn new moves. And keep it in the rhythm.

First of all.. you'll need a name to get that street cred' if you know what I mean.

I'm going to start referring to you as D-Rub.

Doing liquid and gliding and all that is actually called waving. Its smooth and flowing and doesn't involve any popping what-so-ever.

Popping involves contracting and releasing your muscles to make it seem as though your body has 'popped'. One of the best poppers out there is mr.wiggles, I suggest you check out his website and forum, there's tons of dancers there. You can also probably find some of his clips or videos through soulseek or limewire.

Locking is also different type of dancing, different from popping and waving. Its really funky, a lotta of swinging your arms, pointing, jumping, claping, etc. You see people use elements of locking in dance routines in videos and stuff like that. You should check out my favorite locker, sugapop. You can also find clips of him online.

Both of the guys I mentioned are part of a group called the Electric Boogaloos (look that up). They've been around from the start. A lot of the members have been in music videos, etc. They worked with michael jackson, even though he said he picked it up from 'the streets'.

I suggest if you're really interested, buy some videos and read a lot from the forums. You'll only key get better is with a lot of practice, but a lot of people make the mistake of not practicing moves correctly, so make sure you know what you're doing. Above all, master the basics and foundation first. Try recording yourself and looking at what you did right and wrong. Stay grounded and keep it funky.

i find the best and easiest way to pop is by first taking a finger stick it in your mouth andclose your lips around it.. kindof try and pull out your inner cheek and it should result in a quite pleasant POP! if done correctly

your best bet is to practice practice practice as this isnt something that you can become pro at overnight ;)

seriously tho.. i think everyone covered popping pretty well...

TVD you string?! are you any good? ive been stringing /spinning poi for about 3yrs now i find crossers and fountains to be pretty hard/fun also flowers....have you been to homeofpoi.com or spherculism.com? good stuff there

What's the best move you can pull off? ;)

i do two glowsticks connected on one string. i know most people use two strings, but each person has their own style. i start doing a "butterfly" and then instead of going up and down, ill change to side to side butterfly, then ill take up above my head and back down again, then transition back into a butterfly.

then, i start doing a cross wheel on both sides of my body. side to side. and then ill twist it up, and the glowstick with wrap around my arm while the other is going in a circle, and then it unwraps by itself and they start chasing each other.

a lot of my moves are circular. each person has their own style. im workin on some stuff, like behind my back stuff, etc.

yea, i string. if i judge by people's reactions when i do it, ide say im pretty good. last night, i was at a little sleep-over party thing. i had about 10 people watching, and they didnt say much. just, thats awesome, and just staring. your probably better than me, ive been doing it for only 4 monthes. but i been practicing almost everyday, especially on the weekends.

ive never tried poi before. i think i better master the plastic sticks before i move into fire. :p

That's where it's all at. :p

Really takes a toll on your wrists, those moves do. However, the results are very eye-popping.

Haha... I've been spinning for about 5 years now (RaverSurge started doing it and then I learned from him) but I don't really practice too often anymore.

And to think I learned the 3-beat weave before I was able to do an over-head butterfly. :stongue:

That's a really unique style you got there. You should get one of those chains with balls on both end and see how that goes. Great workout. :thepirate

Never heard of this terminology before.

Can you expand upon that?
