Review of Oakenfold @ Hammerstein Ballroom

Last night, I got persuaded to got to Hammerstein Ballroom, for D:Fuse, Oakenfold, and Seb Fontaine. I was pleasantly surprised by D:Fuse. Great set marred only by five minutes if equipment failure which wasn't his fault. During the five minute break, guess who was standing off the side of the stage right next to me. Yep, Paul Oakenfold. Though i imagined Paul was always full of himself, he actually turned out to be a pretty down to earth guy. After D:Fuse set, Jan Johnston came out and sang Flesh. She was soooo sad. Couldn't really sing. Plus, she was making bimbo comments like, "Paul is my mentor" and "i want to skydive but i'm singing Flesh." PLease, someone escort this loser off the stage. Next up was Oakie. Although, i didn't like everything about his set, i can definitely say this. His performances are a production and spectacle. A video screen with Perfecto ballons adorned the stage. The guy is a freakin rock star. Some of the tunes, i recognized, Come With Me, U2-Where the streets have No name (perfecto remix), and Solar Stone-Seven Cities. Plus, the usual tunes he spins. Somehow, spinning these older tunes encouraged alot of women to take their tops off for the video camera. Weird. I honestly didn't even see that kinda thing in ibiza. Around Two, Seb came on and was downright funky. I enjoyed his set the most out of all threee dj's. Oakey was solid but really just isn't my style and pumped up the bass where it basically distorted the music. Can anybody say Phazon? D:Fuse had equipment porblems as i stated before. If any of u have the chacne to go Hammerstein Ballroom, check it out. I thought the venue was beautiful and the acoustics were great. All they really need is a better sound system.

She missed her cue several times. Couldn't hit the high notes at all. Plus, she was scting like a real bimbo. i'm trying not to be too critical but when u start cooing "ohhh, Paul is my mentor!!" in the middle of your performance and "I want to skydive but, i'm singing flesh!!" i seriously wanted to ralph. Cassandra at World was much much better. Plus, that girl really could hit her notes.
