Skipping problem with techies (need help before gig)

I have one technics m3d and another technics mk2 and for some reason they skip. I use stanton trackmaster II cartridges. The needles are 3 months old but for some reason the tables skip like crazy. Sometimes i can't even touch the record, even lightly, because the record will skip. But i use the same catridges on my two stanton str8-80s and there is no skipping at all. I can't use the stantons for the gig though because they hum. So what i need to know are the settings you guys use that makes the records skip the least. I will be pllaying hip hop so the needle staying on the record is crucial.

I don't know exactly what the problem is...but keep messing around with teh counter weights and I'm sure you'll work it out. Different TT's require different tone arm setting for different carts.

please dont tell me that you have the ANTI-SKIP UP ON 6 cause that would be your problem. set the anti skip to 0!

when are they skipping is it just when you pull the record back or is it when they are playing aswell...

I played with the anti-skate but now its at zero. Also its when i push the first downbeat (the first note of the song) foward and backward it skips a lot. But it doesn't now skip during normal playback.

Are you using exactly the same carts or just the same model?

check your counterweight... you may need to take it off... turn it around and put it back on… you can flip the # ring as well… then adjust your needle pressure at that point. let me know if that works.

i use the saem carts i just switched them to see how they performed on the decks

I once bought a Stanton Discmaster II and it did exactly as you described. Stanton cartridges seem to suck.

I have Stanton's...I foget which though. Either the Groovemaster or Trackmaster whichever are elyptical. Anyway, I actually really like them. I have had them for a year and a half, got them at guitar center for a steal, and they sound great, and havent worn out.

My set came with 2 carts with needles, and an extra set of needles. I havent even had to replace them yet.

shures are louder and sound a bit better for live perforamnces i think headshell cartridges (whatever they are called) are better for s-shape tone arms but in the mean time what should i set the height to? also what is your counterweight setting cosmokid
