But this guy is saying that he doesn't like Markus and yet he went to an episode of GDJB. lol. Think about that for a minute. It's like saying, "I hate Tom Cruise," and then going to see War of the Worlds.

Ummm... I hate Tom Cruise. And I saw War of the Worlds. I hate a lot of actors. But if the movie looks good, I'll see it. I hate Alex Reodriguez. But he is the best overall player in baseball. One doesn't necessarily mean the other.

In the broad scheme of things, Dave, I don't think many people care if you guys mix a good show or not. At least, if neither of you ever stepped up to the decks, I wouldn't bat an eyelash. I don't see you guys as DJs. DJs are a dime a dozen. I see you guys as quality producers. Your productions are massive, your remixes are incredible, and the dance music world would not be the same without you and Josh pumping tunes out of the studio.

And, as I said, you guys pulled together for the end of that set. The progression from yours into Marcus' mix was awesome. And I know that you guys can handle the criticism, because you're Gabriel and ing Dresden... and we all know what you're goot at.

I was at both, just not at the same time. Both were great, but G&D rocked so much we went back after Ferry. The crowd was totally into it. Best clubbing night ever for me.

Once again, you have no ing clue what you're talking about.

Gabriel and Dresden continuously dropped massively overplayed tracks, missed the transitions on FOUR separate occasions, and managed to leave two tracks in complete ruin because Dresden decided to have fun ing with the volume knob.

Markus played just about every popular trance track of the year AND managed to incorporate a considerable amount of quality progressive into the set. It sounds as though you don't know the difference between trance and progressive, and it also seems like you've fallen victim the TA cliche of throwing the word "cheese" around when you don't even know what the term means.

Bottom line is that Markus is a better DJ than Gabriel and Dresden. The crowd, on the whole, responded better to him than they did to Gabriel and Dresden. Period. This is why he threw down a three hour set. Gabriel and Dresden are known for being incredible producers, and they are. However, they are not even CLOSE to Schulz in terms of their abilities in the area of mixing. (Note that they used the computer, whereas Schulz was all decks.)

I say this having seen Gabriel and Dresden live four times, by the way. Two of the sets were good. One of them was mediocre. One of them was a trainwreck.

And if you're standing in front of the subwoofers, you're asking for a headache. Sounds like you're a bit of a newbie to the clubs as well as a bit new to the music.

And as far as ASOT and GDJB are concerned... I listen to both, yes. As do most other people on these forums. ASOT is a weekly compilation of the newest trance releases. Armin doesn't play what he thinks the world wants to hear. He plays what is new on the scene and what he thinks people that know what the purpose of the show is are going to be interested in listening to each week. GDJB, on the other hand, is purely about the mixing. This is why GDJB is often a live event, whereas ASOT is a radio show. Get your facts straight on that before you even try to argue with me.

On a side note, I happen to listen to just about ANY dance radio show that I can get access to. You, on the other hand, actually WENT to an episode of GDJB... so if there were anything wrong with GDJB (as you have been implying in your posts), then what the were you doing there? Ferry Corsten was right next door. If you were interested in good mixing, you should NOT have been there primarily for Gabriel and Dresden. Period.

now lets get a few things straight mister technological big shot from washington. i may not be a big fan of markus schulz but i know when someone is just overdoing it with the bass knob regaurdless of being by the sub or not. In crobar its a completely different sound system but i could sit on the sub and not get a headache...markus comes on and its a completely different story.

secondly dave dresden...i dont know what the this guy is talking about u killed that set and i enjoyed every minute of it regaurdless of if you were drunk or not.

third, you were watching and listening to the entire set from di.fm i dont know where or how you are coming up with all these conclusions...you werent there so keep ur trap shut.

fourth, me being a noobie with clubs is the complete opposite ive been to more clubs in this city then i can count and although this was not the best event ive been to g&d did alot better then markus could have done with track selection. sure they played the over played tracks but they did their job of getting the crowd moving. i could not sit there and listen to markus play trance...hes a progressive dj. its like listening to AVB play prog...it just doesnt ing work.

fifth, as far as ASOT and GDJB are concerned they can be as new and play all the great tracks but they took the fun out of iding tracks, they took the fun out of going to your friends and asking OMG WHAT TRACK WAS THAT? THAT WAS DOPE! i dont know where you are coming from with your EDM expertise but that is crap. you want a good radio show listen to k1ss 100, sure digweed announces his tracks but they are all up and coming artists, ive heard tracks that have just been promos and never released. avb and markus are turning trance and prog commercial, lets get it straight here...EDM is just fine underground

your reviews of gabriel and dresden are uncalled for, you are bringing up old sets as if it mattered. when AVB came here in december he was WHACKKKKKKKKKKKK...when AVB came here two weeks ago he was good for the first hour and drowned out till his close. jason jollins made him look like a loser (props to you bro). markus is just a ball of hype and his mixing is good but his track selection was all wrong that night sorry my friend. gabriel and dresden can and will jump around but thats what makes them g and d, their productions jump around and so does their mixing.

and if you want to talk about cheese...almost every trance track ive heard this year except for a limited selection has been cheese. dont bunch me up with these TAs...im no where near the "noobieness" of half of the people here. i go to clubs when i can when the right djs are around. g and d seemed like the right djs... and yes i went to that event for g and d not for markus, i could hear markus once a week if i felt like he was that good...but in the end he just gets annoying.

dont get mad bro its just a forum...alot of the NYTAs have learned that starting with me is just going to cause you to run around in circles...dont get owned like the rest

I agree with ozzman... Markus AVB etc are the antichrist of the underground.... Add g and d to that list.... But hey thats alright because they gotta make a living... Dave is making a living making music , something he likes, which is more than i can say for most of us.... But is it underground dance music? No. Lament was a ing brilliant track.... Nowadays everything is a bit tooo radio friendly...... Modern trance is a bunch of overcompressed garbage, just like the radio where louder = better.....
BiG MiKE
So much hostility :nervous: Dave! it was good to see you posted and being able to eat all of the criticism. Get Markus & AvB in here so they can do the same :tongue2

I'd have to agree there. But I can't help listening to that modern crap.

man u think they really give a about one or two people that say they suck and they r not dj's. as soon as they became kinda famous they knew it was gonna happen..... its a given that somebody doesn't like u, they just ignore it and go on with their lives, they r still great producers and as long as they have fun doing what they do, im sure they r happy ;)
Scoops
this set just randomly popped on my ipod....

I wasn't there this for this party but listening to the set, Markus really owned this nite
