Ive had a total of 3 Speeding tix's in a year.. my last one was just 2 weeks ago.
I wasn't really speeding.. I took the Lehman Causway that comes from Collins to Biscayne Boulevard ( is like a 2 mile stretch that crosses the canal and directly to US1 ).. anyways.. is a 55 mile zone, and I was doing 76 ( and rising ).. it was night and the f*cker was waiting for the victim behind the bushes .. Im bummed cause I cant afford more tix's seriously! |

My first one was 4 years ago, driving back to college from home. 3 exits before the one I had to get off, a cop pulls me over for going 80 in a 50  The guy starts yelling at me and gives me a $275 ticket. Went to court and they put it down to $125 :tongue3
It was good they caught me there too, bc I was doing 100 10 minutes before that :clown: |

Do you guys have fixed speed cameras in the USA? You know, the ones that are fixed onto a pole just waiting to catch you going over the limit.
They are pretty common over here, and they obviously show no leniency either :p.....if you speed, you automatically get booked and you will get the fine in the mail and lose points off your driver's license. :( :( :(
What they look like:

Sydney Speed Camera Locations

P.S. The red dot to the right of "Picnic Point" is where i live ----- right on that river down the bottom of the map :D |

lol.. that sucks.. the cop that got me was all cool about it. he was like "Hello. my name is officer whatever of the wisconsin state patrol and i've pulled you over today for speeding." Then he said that he had two partners who clocked me at 82mph and 80 and that he would save me $60 and just give me a citation for 80
im thinkin about calling the DA's office to see if i have a case and possibly going in to lower it

We have loads of static cameras in the uk...and different types too.
The main ones we have are standard yellow ones on poles, mainly in 30mph regions. I think they allow up to 33mph or something incase your speedometer is defected, but they flash. One flash = outta film, Two flashes = £60 fine and 3 points on your license.
The other main type is the Gatso camera...these...are quite simply...s! They are two cameras distanced down a stretch of road. It takes your speed at the first camera, and then takes it again at the second camera. It does a quick calculation to work out your average speed between the two distances and if its over the speed limit it takes your picture. This means that you cannot simply slow down as you reach the camera then spped up again. |

what like all two of us?
the only speeding ticket i got was coming back from detroit.. it was like 9 in the morning and i wanted to get back to WI as soon as possible. we were in Indiana and i was going about 88 getting on the ass of this one black car in front of me. then i squinted a little bit and realized there were cop lights on the top. DAMN!
and i pulled in the shoulder, Tommy Boy style.
the good thing is, I got like a 90 in a 65 or something, but the ticket was only $98. plus the $10 seatbelt ticket. don't ask me why it was so cheap. |
