Cubase Skipping...but lots of power

Hey,

I have a track and it is skipping, the hats especially. The VST performance meter says im at about 25% cpu. I have an AMD 64bit 3400+ and a gig of ram. I tried freezing most of the VSTs including battery, and it still skipped. It even skips when I solo just a few channels. I tried restarting Cubase, didn't work. I opened another project and it didn't seem to be skipping. This is really bugging me. :nervous:

Oh yeah and I made sure the midi was actually aligned right ;)

Anybody ever experience this or know what thr prob could be?

1. Download ASIO drivers (click here )
2. Set the ASIO buffer size to max (2048 samples)

First of all you need to check you disk usage...it could be that cubase is accessing too many tracks at the same time and your HD isnt fast enough...if you have a 5200 rpm HD then thats the problem...also make sure you have the right buffer setting set up for your card...depending on your card you will have to goto the option in the program menu under Cubase that says "ASIO direct X set up" or ASIO Multimedia Setup" then go through that process...read your manual. Cubas Sx requires a 7200 rpm or faster HD to run properly without Disk issues. I had this prblem for years because of a cheap Maxtor 5200 rpm HD but when I put in a WD 7200rpm 8mb cahe it all went away(but I knew that was the problem anyway)

I need more info to help you properly.

Well I tried the ASIO drivers, and they didn't make a difference.

I have a WD 7200rpm 8mb cache HD and Creative Audigy sound card with latest drivers.

I went through the ASIO setup and it seemed to think everything was working fine.

For some reason it seems to be only 2 hat channels that are doing it, and it isn't doing it in any other tracks.

Hmm I sort of got it working now. What I did was seperate the percussion onto two batteries. Thx for your help guys.
