Review: Gabriel and Dresden in Detroit

I know this one was in Detroit but figured some people might want to hear about it.
They played at Bleu which is a pretty nice club right in downtown. The opening DJ wasn't playing like an opener at all, he was playing some hard tracks.
Then G and D came on a little before 12. They didn't mess around at all.
Their first track was Southern Sun, I went crazy right away.
They played for just over two hours and didn't let up at all.
They played beautiful dream, as the rush comes, automanual, and of course the highlight of the night...
TILL THERE WAS YOU!!!
No matter how many times I hear that track I go crazy. Chanoa was there and she and I danced it up for the fourth time to that song!
Shout outs to Chanoa, Spankmeister, Kabellicious, Chadly, Nikitha and Lisa Loo, the TA's who were there. |

The opening DJ is Elevation (Mike) - he's on Armin label and has
had many of his productions released.
On the new ASOT 2005 one of his new productions is on CD1.
Really nice guy, down-to-earth, and best of all, he's only 18:eyes:

Hey Josh - you missed the best part - G&D were spinning in my friends basement afterwards...he he he. They dropped my all time fav track "On a High" By Duncan Sheik remix. :D I wanted to die from happiness right then and there.
Awesome night - they frickin' banged it out at Bleu - I think I would call it a tech trance set if anything - same melodious vocals as trance but hard hard beats. And Elevation - everytime I see him live, he continues to astound me.
Hopefully, we'll see you WIndsor peeps more on our side of the river. :) See you at Movement folks!

They're such good people - nice guys both. I couldn't believe they were going to spin! For like the 10 of us that were there.... that was awesome. :) |

DON'T FORGET NO ONE ON EARTH!
I almost lost it when I heard that! Chadly84 heard it coming in for like 5 mins and didn't tell me what song it was just in case he was wrong, he didn't want me to get my hopes up (what a sweetie eh!?) but sure enough there it was..beaing played LIVE while I was dancing my face off...
overall amazing night.. Elevation was amazing.. i had never heard of him before but i'm definatly going to be keeping my eyes open for his shows.. hopefully I'll get to head over for Crystal Method and Evil 9 this saturday!

I already posted in the Detroit forum...but here goes round 2.
All in all...amazing nite...definatly not let down by Gabriel or Dresden...OR Elevation!! He was awesome...and the guy's only 18? WOW! I had a wicked time dancing...too bad they weren't open 'til 8. They played some amazing tracks though, As the Rush Comes...one of my faves!! And then Automanual...I was really surprised they played that, but VERY happy they did. I liked having lots of room to dance around too.

Hey, my girlfriend lives in Windsor (works at GM in Detroit) and I'm looking for excuses to party there - Windsor or Detroit - (loved the MIA!!!). Can't make it to DEMF 'cause of my stupid work schedule.
Anything else coming up there you'd recommend? I have such fond memories of seeing Duran Duran in Detroit. :D |
