| Should'nt take the DJ PRO 3000 headphones. After a year it's broken. DJ Pro 2000 is a better option then. |

| Maybe he should start off with 2x Pioneer CDJ-200 and a Denon DNX-1500 or a Pioneer DJM-600 mixer? |

cdj-200 is fine, but dnx-1500 and djm600 is a tad overkill for a n00b. He needs to get mixing skills down first before screwing w/ effects. ALso a mixer that can suit both mixing and scratching would be helpful when his style develops. The djm-707 is currently the best deal, and could be helpful in the future.
another good cd deck for cheap is the numark axis 9, had mine for 2 years now and still going strong, also try to convince him to get tts. |

| well.. there is a chance that you might actually love it when you have got the equipment. i went the 'highend' route and am quite happy with myself - no need to upgrade. and if i really choose to drop it all its ALOT easier to sell technics mk2's and a&h xone mixer than lets say behringer and reloop. |

Lol, why not just recommend the Xone: V6 and be done with it. |
